Dear J: 1999-10-05

Hi   [J].

Hope you feel better soon. I will call you tomorrow night, 10:00. Is that a good time? Maybe earlier? Perhaps you’ve contracted that cold that ran through Philly last week. Try the plantation mint tea from Bigelow. It’s wonderful. Or, ginseng tea with a bit of spearmint extract works well also.

Do you have voice mail through the local phone company? If you do, would you mind sending along your VM access number, so I could leave you messages without calling you directly (real handy to do it that way sometimes). Don’t need your pass code (nor would I presume to ask you for *that* :-) ). Just the area code and 7-digit number of the voice mail service where your mail box is stored (here, they call it the voice messaging service number).

Anyway, the day went superbly. Or, it superbly went. Not sure at this point. We had only minor build issues today with the software. All of those were straightened out by 9:00 AM. And the company wrote an article about me and their “home basing experiment,” as some like to call it. ‘twas quite flattering, and will be printed in the company newsletter this month. Nice to have a few allies in Dayton, in high places, relatively speaking. They help make sure the rest of the company doesn’t forget about me, since I work so far away.

Just got back from Neshaminy Mall a few minutes ago. Been looking for a tall cabinet to serve as a pantry and storage bin for some of the excess pots and pans that currently sit on top of the stove in this galley-style kitchen. Found nothing so far. But walking in that crisp, cool, and dry air tonight was invigorating. Love fall. Love spring. I love *all* the seasons, when they start. *smile*

At any rate, I’m going to pack it in tonight also, although I may read a bit more on Active Server Pages before turning in. The mood will dictate. And the mood feels ambivalent right at this moment.

Take care.
Tom Hesley
