J Says Good-Bye

Wednesday, October 6th, 1999

[J]   told me today that she wishes no further communication. She says basically that she’s too smart for me. That hurts. But if it’s true, then I’d rather know it now. Too bad though. She’s so beautiful. Even if we couldn’t have built a committed relationship, I still would have loved laying with her a few times.

Ah well. I’m off to find another.

Hi Mary Ann.

Yep, been exchanging email with Joann all week. She likes it.

Coasting is nice now and then. I get restless if I coast for too long though.

Good luck on LA Weight Loss. They’ve been running lots of ads here on Philly TV quite aggressively. If you can believe them, their track record is quite good. Perhaps it will work well for you.

No, I don’t recall having any joint pain when drinking lots of caffeine, though caffeine did give me headaches. I did have joint pain though, when I was 25 pounds heavier. Excess weight can cause that too, particularly in the hips, knees, and especially the ankles and feet.

Weight control is going pretty well. I gained some weight (close to 10 pounds at camp). Lost all but about 2 pounds of that in August. But the weight has been pretty stable since. I’m getting used to eating much less each day. Difficult. But I think the routine is finally becoming internalized.

Today went superbly. Or, it superbly went. Not sure at this point. :-) We had only minor build issues today with the software. All of those were straightened out by 9:00 AM. And the company wrote an article about me and their “home basing experiment,” as some like to call it. ‘twas quite flattering, and will be printed in the company newsletter this month. Nice to have a few highly positioned allies in Dayton, relatively speaking. They help make sure the rest of the company doesn’t forget about me, since I work so far away. There’s even going to be a picture of me sitting here in the home office in the article. I took it with my new digital camera. Came out pretty well.

Went up to Neshaminy Mall last night. Been looking for a tall cabinet to serve as a pantry and storage bin for some of the excess pots and pans, that currently adorn the top of the stove in this galley-style kitchen. Found nothing so far. But walking in that crisp, cool, and dry autumn air was most invigorating. Love fall. Love spring. I love *all* the seasons, when they start. *smile* But I usually love them much less as then end, especially this past summer. So glad that heat is gone for another year.

At any rate, I’m going to head out to Boston Market for dinner. Haven’t enjoyed a good meal in several days. So, going to sign off for now.

Take care,
Tom

Hi Joann.

Mom mentioned the boat trip this weekend. Sounds like it will be great fun. Sheesh, what is it with Jewell’s lovers getting cancer? Maybe she’s radio active. :-) Say hi to all there, for me.

Hope you day went well. Mine did. Very busy.

Going out to Boston Market for some dinner in a little while. So, will talk to you later on.

Take care,
Tom

Hiya   [J].

Glad you’re feeling better today. With all the processing that goes on these days in the food supply, it’s a wonder we’re all no sicker than we are.

Let us move the phone talk time to 8:00 PM. Will call you then, tonight.

On the voice mail: Well, the question is moot if you don’t subscribe to voice mail from the phone company. Another name for voice mail is Answer Call. You have an answering machine instead? I have voice mail here, which costs roughly $6 / Mo. If someone calls my number and I’m on the phone, it routes the caller to my voice mail box, where they can leave a message, without getting a busy signal. Then, to pick up the message, I dial this 10-digit access number (from anywhere). A digitized female voice prompts for the mail box number (the home phone number) and pass code. Once entered, I can listen to new messages, and messages can be saved for up to 30 days. My voice mail also pages me when a new message arrives.

Yes, looking for a wooden cabinet. Oak is my favorite, and cherry is a close second. But they are both frightfully heavy. Walnut is also nice. *smile* My living room, bedroom, and office furnishings are all oak or oak veneer. I have two large rocking chairs that are solid oak. Each one weighs close to 77 pounds. These had the squeaking problem a couple weeks ago. But I applied a little WD40 to their joints and they’re silent now. The one has a loose joint that thumps when the chair is used, where the rocker itself is fastened to the frame. May have to pound that apart and re glue

Sunny here today also. Definitely is much chillier than last week. Coldest weather yet this fall. Maybe that is playing a role in making you sick.
