Dear Lynn: Noisy Neighbors

Thursday, October 28th, 1999

Dear   [Lynn],

Hello to you.

So, you’ve been the industrious little busy bee tonight.

On your son’s father: Well, hope you get hold of him soon.

Irksome. Yep, a fond feeling, felt frequently these days down here. The   noisy neighbors  in the apartment below mine have been making construction zone-like noise the past few weeks. Slamming doors, cursing loudly, playing boomy, bassy music,…

So far, I’ve pounded on my floor to get them to stop, called the police, and have written letters to both them and the landlord. But nothing seems to help. I may have to move – YUCK!

I can’t stand noisy neighbors. It’s a nice apartment otherwise and it would be a shame to have to leave it. But I need peace here at the home office. Times like this make me miss my house in Ohio immensely. Ah but this is just another problem to solve, and it will be done.

Well, enjoy your rest. Talk to you tomorrow.

On My Cousin’s Wedding and Dressing Up

Thursday, October 28th, 1999

Hi  [Lynn].

I dress up a few times a year, but usually I’m a jeans and flannel shirt kind of guy. But dawning a suit and tie is fun when seeing a play or dining in a fine restaurant.

The food at the wedding was absolutely delicious. They had chocolate dipped cashews – yummy. The menu included roast beef, baked chicken, carrots, potatoes, and green beans. Then for dessert, they had the wedding cake (chocolate and vanilla), ice cream, and strawberries.

Now did you really go off and take a shower and eat? You’re probably sitting there right now, reading this. :-)

On Data Vs. Body Packaging

Thursday, October 28th, 1999

Dear   [Lynn],

Hey, no problem. I’d love to write a bit on comparing data packaging to ‘body packaging’, a concept you eluded to in one of your other letters. But not tonight. My hand really hurts. :-)

As to why I do data packaging: You know, I suspect it is because I love solving problems. I suppose I could have picked any number of fields and been about as happy. But to me, computers will eventually be humanity’s salvation. And I enjoy being part of their development.

Going to head out to get something to eat in a little while and will probably be back sometime after 10:00. Hope you’re enjoying your shower / supper.

Talk to you then.

Woes of Sending Pics Long Distances

Thursday, October 28th, 1999

Dear   [Lynn],

No, you don’t need to upgrade your Eudora email reader. The problems are all at this end.

The reason you saw the gibberish is that the mail server at my employer’s site broke the message apart into two smaller ones. That happened because I tried sending two pics in one email message. But I just sent another one with just one pic and it seemed to work fine.

Let me know.

Dear Lynn: On Neon and Pics

Thursday, October 28th, 1999

Dear   [Lynn],

I already knew the info on signs. Neon and all types of gaseous discharge types of lighting have always been an interest of mine, for as far back as I remember.

Hey, I’m going to re send the wedding pics, this time with MIME encoding. You should be able to view them. I told you we’d solve the pic problem. :-) Thanks for your patience. Oh, be sure to thank John also. His emails really helped clue me in on what the matter was.

Dear Lynn: My Right Hand Injury

Thursday, October 28th, 1999

Hi there [Lynn].

Welcome home!

Just a short hello. I have to take it easy on typing for the next few days. The right hand is somewhat sore – lots of typing at work yesterday really did it.

Talk to you tonight.
