Insurance Rates Rise Big
Monday, November 15th, 1999Dear [Lynn],
Ooops. Guess I don’t know a lot about insurance costs, especially for the self employed. Our company tends not to see such drastic increases in rates, because they buy many policies in a group. Group discounts. Guess that you’ll have to raise your wages – go ahead, give yourself a raise.
You deserve it. If only it were that simple, ‘eh?

Overhead of Self Employment
Monday, November 15th, 1999Dear [Lynn],
Great on the sci fi stuff.
Yep, self employment does have a certain amount of um, shall we say, ‘overhead’? Hopefully the insurance rates didn’t go up too much. Medical inflation has been very low the past few years. So your increases probably won’t be too unmanageable.
Catch you later,
Tom
Dear Lynn: 2009-11-15
Monday, November 15th, 1999Dear [Lynn],
No problem. I’m quite good at entertaining myself when left alone. Will bring some books, and maybe even read some that you have. Perhaps some Eudora Welty?
Yes, by the end of the week, we should have a better idea of just how compatible we are.
Talk to you a bit later.
Dear Lynn: On The Upcoming Visit
Monday, November 15th, 1999Hey there [Lynn].
I was able to get a great deal if I arrived there on Dec 11th and left on Dec. 18th. So I went ahead and made the following reservations . . .
Philadelphia to Portland (nonstop); Leaves Philly at 10:38 AM and arrives at Portland, at 11:56 AM on Dec. 11th, 1999.
The plan is to stay with you a week, and then leave Portland on Dec. 18th at 1:36 PM, arriving at Pittsburgh at 3:25 PM.
Do these meet with your approval? I know this is a longer visit than we discussed and will change the schedule if it causes you problems.
Later.
Tom
Dear Lynn: On Religious Conversions
Monday, November 15th, 1999[Lynn],
Hmmm. Sounds like you have several nice traditions established, with some good people – hard to find that these days. There was a couple that lived across the cul de sac from my house in Dayton that were very helpful. We went to church together, to movies, and the occasional dinner. The had two teenaged children that were definitely chips off the old block. Nice people. However, their kindness seemed to have a condition associated with it. That is, they wanted to convert me to their religion. And once I told them that I was a firm agnostic, they tended to avoid me thereafter. But they were good people with no OTHER hidden agendas.
Well, I’m off to a teleconference. Catch you later today.
Dear Lynn: On Dreams
Monday, November 15th, 1999Good morning back.
Nice sunny day on tap here also, although it’s only going up to 48 degrees. Even colder tomorrow and Wednesday with highs of 42 and 44 respectively.
Wouldn’t know how to interpret that dream. Sounds like a case for one of those TV talk shows. :-) Maybe your dream meant that you really are detached from ‘home’. So detached in fact, that you weren’t concerned that you forgot to pack anything. *smile*
Funny thing about dreams. They always seem to abruptly end before their logical conclusion is reached.
On the pics to scan: You could send 10, 50, or 100. Scanning them is no big deal and I’d be happy to do as many as you have – although 1000 would be pushing it a bit. *grin*
Hey, even us ‘responsible’ folks have to goof off now and then – like during the last month of the year.
Talk to you later today. Have a good one, after you’ve figured it out.
