Dear Lynn: 2000-01-06

Thursday, January 6th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Hey there.

Well, you should not be responsible for [your daughter] and her punctuality regarding her tuition. But you’re such a caring person that you’d probably feel guilty if she was late getting these affairs in order.

Have dinner tonight with two coworkers – Joe and Cheryl. We’ve worked very closely over the past year and a half. Joe is a developer (like me) and Cheryl is a test engineer – she runs regression tests on software that Joe and I modify to make sure we didn’t break anything. I tell you with all these lunches, snack meetings, and dinners out, I’m going to blow up like a balloon. Good thing normal routines will be resumed again on Sunday. :-)

I don’t remember EVERYTHING you write – only that which makes a strong impression. And you write much that does that. So that is how I remember much of what you write.

Bye bye.

Dinner Planning

Thursday, January 6th, 2000

Guys,

Just a reminder. Meet you both in the b5b6 lobby at 5:00 PM this afternoon. :-)

Might I impose on one of you to drive me back to Villages of Miami after we’re done?

Hmmm, we’ll have to flip a coin. Although if I had my choice, I’d rather ride with the lady.  :-)   No offense, Joe.

McTabish?

Thursday, January 6th, 2000

[Lynn],

McTabish? How did [your daughter] come up with THAT name? He’s probably hanging so close, like a clinging vine, because it’s so cold outside, and you’re so warm inside. Right? At least you’re not all wet today. :-)

White circles? Yep, that has happened here on occasion. The vacuum should pick them all up. Don’t use a hole punch very often. But then I’m not doing work for princesses either. Ba !

So, Mrs. Clause from Maine will be visiting next week? Nice. The gifts will top off a truly wonderful holiday season. Now, time to get back to the routine of dieting and working. :-)

Get the scanner!!! Knowing you, you’ll have mounds of fun with it.

You’re bad, loved one.

Ba ba ba ba ba ba.

So, does Danny have the same morning schedule you do? Or did you have to wait until a more normal hour for him to leave? :-) He’d better open up that computer soon or it will become obsolete.

Well, back to work too. Talk to you later.

Lunch with the Boss

Thursday, January 6th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Had lunch with my boss today. He asked me not to write too much on my performance appraisal (due next Tuesday). He said that a good opinion of me already prevails in his mind and that I should not waste time trying to convince him of my goodness. :-)

Anyway, we went to that Indian restaurant that I visited last Thursday, and stuffed ourselves, talking about the team and the current vision of where it is headed. He also told me that Linda, one of my coworkers would like to take over the product support from me. She’s sort of burned out right now and would like something a little less challenging to work on, while I need to take on more challenging spots to justify the next promotion. So, I might end up spending some time over the next month, teaching her about our applications. I saw her today, and she was asking several questions about it. So I may be able to move on. :-)

Had a couple more meetings today. Highly productive.

Looks like I’ll be heading for the airport this Saturday at around 2:00 PM. The plane leaves for Philly at 4:15 PM, and arrives there at 5:35 PM approximately.

Mar Didn’t Know She Was Pregnant?

Thursday, January 6th, 2000

Dear Sister Joann,

Yep, I don’t believe her. But hey, to each her own. :-) Ha ha ha. How’s she going to afford a baby anyhow? Money has always been a big issue with [her], and now, they have yet another [big] expense. *sigh*

Preparing to Leave Dayton

Thursday, January 6th, 2000

Dear   [Brandon],

[No, you're not rushing me out the door. I understand.]

I need to leave by 2:00 PM, give or take, depending on when the cab arrives. I had planned on calling them sometime Saturday morning for a 2:00 PM pickup. If you need me to leave sooner, no problem. Just let me know.

Family Meeting in January?

Thursday, January 6th, 2000

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Or, better yet . .

Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba

*grin*

Anyway, things are heating up here at work today. Lots of folks to see, so this is going to be short.

Talked to Mom last night about the property issues. We’re going to have a family meeting at the end of January to get all our concerns out on the table and, hopefully, bring some of these issues that are troubling me to closure. That’s one disadvantage of having a large family. Much harder to satisfy them all. :-)

Well, have a good day. Talk to you

later.

Y2K Status Update

Thursday, January 6th, 2000

Dear Sister Joann,

All is well here at [work] in regards to Y2K. No issues found. Yes, there have been scattered problems with cash registers and ATMs. But nothing serious so far. However, we’re still not in the clear yet. We won’t really know how we stand until sometime in March, when everyone has had a chance to pay bills, issued in year 2000, for the first time. I’m expecting to see at least a few problems in my bills. But we’ll just have to wait and see.

Later.

Mar’s New Baby

Thursday, January 6th, 2000

Dear Sister Joann

Wow, that is a surprise about Mar. Maybe THAT is why they didn’t want me staying with them in December. Interesting that they kept it under wraps. Hmmmm, wonder why? Inquiring minds want to know. :-)

Well, must get to work. Have a nice day, and will talk to you soon.
