Heading Home for the Weekend

Friday, January 14th, 2000

Hey you,   [Lynn],

Thanks for sending the card and check today. You are a person of good character, and I consider myself very fortunate to have crossed paths with you the way we have. I hope we’ll continue ‘crossing paths’.

Take care. I will call you tonight if I don’t get in too late – sometimes the train runs late.

Until then,
Tom Hesley

No Nap Yet

Friday, January 14th, 2000

[Lynn],

Well, actually, I never made it to the nap. Been ‘redding up’ the office – paying bills, sending expense reports to [work], Etc.

Just made train reservations for the trip. I definitely waited too long. $111 for the ticket [to Altoona]. :-)

Meow.

Don’t harass [me] too much. I’ll sue. :-)

Yep, I know. [The Lucky Charms probably are making me much more tired than I'd otherwise be if I hadn't eaten them.] However, I suspect that being tired in this instance, resulted from getting only 5.5 hours sleep last night, as compared to the usual 7.5. The sugar was likely a contributor however.

Oh, you received it [my gift] today? Cool.

It is the Top Dog of [computer] mice. :-)

Later,
Tom

About Last Night

Friday, January 14th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Nice evening last night. Just hung out, talked of old times (like 2.5 years ago, when I moved here). Had some Lucky Charms [with my buddy,   [Jack]].

Got up this morning at 5:00. Felt like you. ‘twas still dark out.

Then,   [Jack]   and I rode the bus downtown and he went to meet some other friends for breakfast, and I got on the subway headed for here.

I’m very sleepy! May have to take a little nap this morning. Hmmmm, let’s see. Are there any meetings planned? Nope. Ah yes. Time for a nap.

I Hate Performance Appraisals!

Friday, January 14th, 2000

‘Mornin’ sweetie [Lynn].

Temp is about 19 degrees here. I just got home from West Philly about a half hour ago and was doing a time sheet for [work]. Getting ready to head out for the weekend at 12:30 this afternoon. Love that train ride. The dog is smart.

The manager emailed me yesterday about my appraisal. I hate appraisals. They’re like warts that just will not go away. :-) Anyway, he seemed a bit surprised that I didn’t meet my training objectives for last year. Of course, those objectives didn’t account for the Y2K pit falls we encountered. And, they also assumed that the software I currently support would have been retired by now and that I’d be supporting the ‘new’ system. So, I told him that there would be no point in taking the classes until I was sure to use the material immediately. If I take the courses and then do not apply the information, I’ll forget it. So, I think he understood.

Well, have to go for now. Take care, and talk to you soon.

Tom
