Sun Beams Make Me Beam

Monday, February 28th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Hmmm, well, it was sunny most of today. In fact, right now, the sky is clear blue, and the beaming sun is making me beam. :-) Baby cakes. :-)

Enjoy yourself this evening.

Nephew’s Party Thoughts

Sunday, February 27th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

The nephew is 7 years old now. We all had a nice time. The celebration ended last night at 11:00, with most of the kids got into trouble for wrestling, and their parents had enough and took them home to bed. Even the birthday boy, Grant, got into a bit of trouble for rough-housing. But all in all, he should remember the day fondly.

Yep, polarfleece and Teflon tape. Always good to learn something new every day. I’ve been running lots of Yahoo searches and reading about plumbing and electrical work and parts.

Enjoy your rehearsal today.

Supposed to be a nice day here today until later this afternoon, when thunderstorms will visit. But the high should get to around 60 degrees. So, am going to take a walk. About 3 miles.

Good for you.

I slept until 10:00 this morning, then, listened to the radio for another hour. Then, sat in the bathtub for another ½ hour. :-) Good way to spend a Sunday.

Once it starts raining, going to work on another rocking chair. Many of its screws are broken and so, will drill them out where possible, and put in new ones. My sister has several other chairs that also need work. So may get to them this week. There’s never a shortage of things to do around here.

Talk to you later.

Nephew’s Birthday Party

Saturday, February 26th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

You’re welcome. Did you get the stars all over yourself and the floor? :-)

Well, you were SUPPOSED to spill some, and then get all aggravated because you’d have to clean them up. :-)

Gray, dreary day here. I may be going to my nephew’s birthday party here in a bit. Not sure yet though.

Learned about Teflon tape today, and how it can be used to seal pipe joints for those pipes and fittings that screw together. I used some on the hose of that new air compressor, and on the new pressure tank. Certainly helps make plumbing idiot proof.

Blue Well Pressure Tank

Thursday, February 24th, 2000

Hi there   [Lynn].

Nope, did not max out the [credit] card. In fact, I did not use a credit card. Well, I did, but it deducted the funds right from my checking account.

Had a 10% off coupon. Saved me $35.

And, had a bit of a surprise on the tank. Even though the tank cylinder volume is 220 gallons, the actual draw-down is only 85 gallons. The rest of the space is taken up by the bladder and surrounding air. :-) Somehow, I thought that the 220 gallons figure was referring to useable water in the tank. Nope. Ah well, if the pump still cycles too much once we get this installed, I’ll just have to buy another one.

Always next year? Well, you still should have some cold days left – especially up there – for snow skiing. But if not, you can always go water skiing. Do they do much of that on the ocean up there? Or is there concern about sharks dining on the skiers?

Later.

When Does Easter Fall?

Thursday, February 24th, 2000

Dear sister Diane,

I believe that Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox (beginning of spring). So the chain of events goes as follows:

  1. Spring arrives (around March 21st).
  2. Then, a full moon happens (Either on or after the first day of spring).
  3. Easter comes the following Sunday.

Dental Update

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Yep. The Nasdaq made enough to put me in a great mood. :-)

Got the pre work done for my crown. Lots of needles and drilling. :-) But the worst part is over. Now I just wait for two weeks until the permanent crown arrives. The mouth is hurting a bit right now, but nothing too serious. It’s tolerable.

Hope your day was good.

Talk to you later tonight.

Preparing For The Auction

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Thanks kindly. Rich and Joe will arrive between 9:00 and 9:30. I’ve got my list of items to buy, my coupons, check book, and credit card (just in case). :-)

All gray here this morning. Not a blue patch in sight. However, the temps are supposed to climb to the mid 50s – yes, the thaw is in progress here also. Only a few remaining, dirty patches of snow left along the roads. Those should disappear today.

Have a nice ski trip today – if you can work it in. Talk to you later on.

Cornmesser Hardware Closing

Monday, February 21st, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Hi again.

Yes, the pics from St. Barth would be nice to see.

Have you bought the seeds you’ll be starting yet? Or did you save some from last year?

We have an auction to attend this weekend. A local hardware store has closed in Bellwood, and they’re selling off everything. Hopefully there’ll be some good deals on tools and supplies for the house. Rich, Joe, and me are going.

Yes, the move seems to have been the right choice.

Later.

Email Outage

Monday, February 21st, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

[I'm] still on good terms with the folks at work. I think they were upgrading some of their email servers over the weekend. [This hopefully, explains the email outage.]

Same here on the bare ground today. In fact, a good bit of the snow will probably melt today, since the temps are going to be in the mid 40s. SPRING. :-) Blue skis with puffy white clouds today. Pretty.

Later.

Snow Today Here

Friday, February 18th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Snowed about an inch here this morning. Still dark gray so there is likely more on the way.

Why was getting up so hard for you today? Did you end up staying up late last night?
