Hi there [Lynn].
Yes, you seemed to be in a mood yesterday, and being that you didn’t sound too excited about doing that meeting last night, I thought I’d leave you alone.
Stubborn people. They can indeed make you feel powerless. The difficult thing is that they believe in their own hearts that they’re right, even if they’re not sometimes. And of course, sheer ego often fuels their stubbornness. Lock on, lock out. Their minds LOCK ON to a position, and LOCK OUT any others. But occasionally it helps to acknowledge their “rightness” initially. That can oil the skids and make them more receptive to a dissenting view. Do you have trouble working subsequently with someone you’ve had a major disagreement with? I often do. Takes a long time to get past it.
Anyway, ordered a 220 gallon pressure tank with bladder yesterday at Home Depot. $296 total. Not bad.
Heard from the surveyors today. They say my home only needs to be roughly 2 Ft. above ground to be out of the major flood plane. They marked the minimum height on a nearby phone pole with a big nail and orange strip. And that nail is at my knee level. Phew. Won’t have to do any additional buildup. They have sent the results to me and the township. They charged me $250 for their services. Now, to file for the building permit is going to be $375.
The money comes in, and, just as quickly, the money goes out.
And there is still the sewer and natural gas hookups to pay for yet.
At work, more of the same today. Preparing for our next release on March 12th. Much email to send today. This is going to involve some major changes to the infrastructure – particularly, where many of the support files are stored. These moves are usually fraught with headaches. Ah well, time to roll up the sleeves and get ready with the asprin.
Talk to you later.
Tom
