Well, for maximum portability, you should probably go with a PC card modem. Yes, modems should be available for a type 3 slot. And since she doesn’t mind removing the network card in order to insert the modem card, this would probably be the best choice. However, if it turns out that she needs frequent access to the network card, then she ought to get a serial modem to plug into that extra serial port she has.
