Good Day

Friday, June 30th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Rained out, ‘eh? I thought you might be, because the weather is real nice here today, and the warmth and sunshine here is holding that bad weather over your house up there. *Scooting under a rock*

Later, Lynn. ;-)

Good Morning: 2000-06-30

Friday, June 30th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

That happened because I sent you a letter that I addressed via my personal address book. Normally, I just reply to one of your letters that you sent to me. In my address book, I have you filed as [Lynn M]. Hmmmmm. Now who’s being very observant?

Three meetings today, including the post mortem and a discussion with my manager about my objectives for the 2nd half of 2000. Wish me luck.

Hope your day is going well.

Diane’s Washer

Thursday, June 29th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Hope you enjoy your dinner out, to the FULLEST. :-)

I have to go to Diane’s in a few minutes. Her washer overflowed and she has asked me to see what I can do. She also wants me to rewire her house. The first task I’ll do, but I don’t know about the second one. That’s a big, BIG job. At any rate, I may not be back here until after 9:00 myself. So, call when you get in, if I’m not in, I’ll call you back when I DO get in, if the hour is not too late.

Happy dining.

Washing Machine Problems

Thursday, June 29th, 2000

Dear sister Diane,

Could be the water level switch. Either that, or the float that is attached to the switch is jammed. Perhaps some debris got in to the channel that it moves up and down in. Mom knows a washer repair man that seems to know his stuff pretty well. If you need this fixed very quickly, you might give him a call. He only charged us $25 to repair Mom’s washer agitator a few months ago. But if you like, I can take a look at it tonight. I have Christine’s computer to bring down (just put in a new, much faster CD ROM drive). Perhaps I can stop by while there.

Yes, do pick me up on your way home. I’ll bring my tools. Is there water in the machine right now?

Okay. Well, I’ll need to fill it up again to observe the problem. But draining it should not be an issue. I guess you just put it on the spin part of the cycle to drain it.

Are you sure that the problem is that the washer failed to stop filling when the maximum water level was reached? Or, might it have backed up when trying to drain, as a result of you septic problems? Critical question here. :-)

Well, sounds like you’ve ruled out the drain. Will look at the washer this afternoon.

How’s that air conditioner working?

Tid Bits: 2000-06-29

Thursday, June 29th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Hey you.

Running a bit late today, are we? Usually you write by 6:30. But on this day, you didn’t write until after 7:00.

Well, I’m always concerned about postmortems. But the good side is that people will be made more aware of just how big and complicated this system is. And while THIS meeting may be highly stressful, perhaps the resulting, increased awareness among my peers, subordinates, and superiors, will make future days less aggravating. Hah! Fat chance, ‘eh?

Yes, I imagine that during the summer months, the cats, combined with that 4’’ thick comforter you have would make for a very sultry night indeed. :-) When you kicked them off, did they return immediately, or go off an sulk for an hour, only to return then after you’d gone back to sleep to disturb you?

I don’t believe you mentioned the dinner tonight. However, I’ll put it on my calendar this time, so I don’t call at 8:00, expecting you to be home. Sure, just give me a call when you get in.

Have a sweet day. Cool, blue skies here. The sun is out. A few velvety white clouds that make long streaks across the sky can be seen out the westward windows here in the office. Nice.

Talk to you later.

Tid Bits: 2000-06-27

Tuesday, June 27th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Looks like we’re having here today, what you had yesterday. Low 80s but very humid. Lots of dark gray clouds around. No sun today, and none forecast for the rest of this day.

I sent my request for a promotion to my manager. . . *Run for cover* :-)

On the phones: I think you underestimate my patience, dear. If I didn’t rely on them for my business, they could stay out for days and not bother me.

So, how often do you see your parents, now that they’re in town? I imagine you see them lots at first, but as the summer progresses, fewer and fewer visits happen. ? I’m sure the house is fine. You’re a bit of a perfectionist, aren’t you.

Yes, feeling very good about the case. But preparation is never done though. There’s always something more one can do, to substantiate one’s position. And I’ve been scratching my head trying to come up with more ideas of how to do that. It sure would be nice if we could get the noisy woman herself to testify. :-) She’s so mentally unstable that only a few edgy questions from the lawyer would ignite an emotional, violent display that would convince anyone in earshot of the nature of the noise I put up with, and the urgency with which I left. :-) We’ll just have to see how it goes.

Hope the start of your week was nice and productive.

The Philly Trip Was Great

Monday, June 26th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

I figured you must have been quite tired. You seemed somewhat short, though not mean by any means. Just short. :-) At any rate, you were better last night. The weekend must have done you good. You work very hard.

The trip was wonderful. However, it reminded me that there are certain things about Philly that I miss a great deal – namely, the independence I enjoyed there. There was a sense of job security there also, in that, if something ever happened with [my current job], I could probably find a new job easily, without having to travel very far to conduct the search. I woke up this morning with a sense sweetness in my mind about the good trip, yet at the same time, feelings of emptiness in the pit of my stomach, the bitterness, were present also. I’ve not felt these in quite some time. But this will pass.

Have a good Monday. Talk to you later.

Lynn’s PC Problems

Monday, June 26th, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Wonderful! I’m eager to see if the instability problems on your PC clear up. Try that Photo Deluxe. That seemed to exacerbate the problem, especially when printing.

Do you know what kind of modem you have? We might be able to get the latest driver files for it from a web site somewhere. But then again, if the modem works well, no sense in bothering really, unless of course, you’re seeing strange behaviors when using the modem.

More later.

Tid Bits: 2000-06-23

Friday, June 23rd, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Well, Bell Atlantic uses microwave dishes all over the place. I’m sure they’ve encountered this problem before. Perhaps they’ll relocate the dish to a higher point on the island. Either that, or lay cables to the mainland. :-)

On the water meter: I hope your bill doesn’t go up too much, if at all. Here, when they put in water meters, peoples’ bills went significantly higher. However, the meters were only a part of the system revamping. They added better treatment facilities, more redundancy – they get water from Altoona if needed. So, the increases in bills were to fund these expenditures and not necessarily due to the addition of the meters. Although it does make one wonder.

What’s a spirea?

A productive day it was. Now tonight, I’ll pack for the Philly trip tomorrow morning. I must remember to charge the camera.

Sunny and warm here. Lots of white puffy clouds. About 80 degrees I think.

Well, talk to you later on.

Noisy Apartment Status

Thursday, June 22nd, 2000

Dear   [Lynn],

Ah the day just got very sweet indeed. I heard back from the director of Community Living and Home Supports, the people who were renting the noisy apartment. She has agreed to help me. :-) :-) :-)   She offered to testify on my behalf if this goes to court, and to provide any written documentation I require. Apparently, the landlord hasn’t been very nice to her either. Can you believe it? This is the first significant break in this case I’ve had. *YES*

Poor cats. Their own doing though. Maybe next time, they’ll take you seriously when you call them in.

Cloudy day today. Warm and humid. No rain though. It’s supposed to clear out this afternoon. We’ll see. If it does, then I’ll get up to Joann’s and install this motor.

Last night, I fixed the outside flood lights which had stopped working a few days ago. Turned out to be a loose wire nut in a junction box in the attic. I re stripped the wires, twisted them together a few times, and then used a better wire nut (wing nut) than what was there before. These new nuts are supposed to provide better long-term contact between the wires. We’ll see. :-)

Hope the Land Trust is treating you well.
