Lynn’s Dial-Up Problem

Dear   [Lynn],

Yep, on that crazy dial-up connection dial-up box, I think I solved that problem on my machine. To do it, do the following:
1. Go to Settings –> Control Panel on the task bar. The Control Panel window appears.
2. Pick Internet Options. The Internet Properties window appears.
3. In that window, click the Connections tab. The connection information appears.
4. There are a few radio buttons about two thirds the way down this pane on the left. One is called “Never Dial a Connection”. Make sure this one is selected (has the black dot).
5. Also, note the “Dial-up Settings” window. Select and remove any listed connections here. Doing this will mean that you cannot initiate a dial-up connection from within you mailer or browser. But I don’t think you do that anyway. You always use your ISP software to establish the connection, right?

Doing this should stop that pain-in-the-butt dialog box from appearing. Let me know if it does not.

Tom
