Hi Tad: 2000-07-25
Dear  [Tad],
How are ya? Yes, your email made it to me, and I was quite pleasantly surprised to get it.
Thanks for sending the article. It’s always nice to hear about my classmates, especially you, as you are featured in this newsletter. Terrific. Great job. And of course, keep it up.
Here’s a bit of news from this end. Well, I moved to Altoona from Philly in January. Why? I believe I told you about the attack I suffered while living in Philly last fall. It really shook me up, and I was not comfortable walking on the streets there after it happened. In addition, I had some extremely noisy neighbors living beneath me, which made my apartment there unbearable. So, I had to leave. The landlord has threatened to sue me for breaking my lease and vacating the apartment almost 7 months early. But I told them to go ahead and that I’m eager to have the case heard. They refused to help me stop the noise for almost 4 months, and so were denying me my right to have a peaceful residence. My position is that THEY broke the lease, not me. So, we’ll have to see what happens. But my lawyer says that I’ve got a rock-solid case, which he’s 95 percent certain I will win if it goes to court.
However, I very much miss Philly and the independence I enjoyed there with their extensive bus and train system. So, I am contemplating a move back, perhaps later this fall or next spring. Needless to say I will NOT be living anywhere near where I was before. This time, I’m looking to move to lower Bucks county. It’s outside of Philly by a few miles, but still has most of the city conveniences, WITHOUT the big tax bill.
How’s [your] family? Did you tell your mother that I would like to massage her feet sometime? *smile* I’d even make a trip to Johnstown to do that.
Well  [Tad], I hope you are well. Unfortunately, I will probably not be able to make the alumni weekend this year. It turns out that we have a software release at [work] on Sunday morning, August 6th, and right now, no one else can cover for me. However, if I can find a willing volunteer, I’ll try and make it. Do you know how I would sign up to come? Perhaps [through] Joe?
Say hi to our teachers for me. Give them my best.
Anyway, gotta run. Take care, thanks for writing, and do write again very soon.
Regards.
Tom
