I Got A Raise
Dear [Lynn],
Another triumph. Just received a 6% raise this morning. Now, I’m quite happy, and am getting paid what I should be. I wasn’t counting on this one so quickly. But [my manager] is really trying to set things right. Now to work on the promotion. 
The strategy document is coming along. However, I’ve not made much headway on it the past couple weeks. The new contractors are asking lots of questions, that take lots of time to answer. So, until they get up to speed, I’ll be spending most of my work day helping them. But, it’s an investment. At last, there’s some relief in sight for my busy schedule.
