I Pay My Way

DearĀ Ā  [Lynn],

Me, bouncing in and out of here? Well yes, I suppose. But this is the first time in 21 years I’ve been back here to live. And the circumstances of that move certainly justified it. Also, Mom made out pretty good in the deal, with me spending the better part of $4000 on maintenance of this house in 2000, not to mention the hours of labor I’ve put in while here. She’ll have a computer here to play with once I go and some extra phone lines to use, should Curt be using her phone when she wants it. I also buy between $20 and $60 of groceries per week for her refrigerator that she eats, and when I moved in here, I bought about 20 gallons of laundry detergent, which we’re only just now finishing up. Now I don’t mean to suggest that this arrangement has been one-sided. She takes me places and pays for my electricity, picks me up at the train station and the airport, lets me store stuff in her basement, Etc. She’s a good Mom. I’d say that this arrangement for the past 10 months has been mutually beneficial for us.

Tom
