Dear [Gov],

Happy New Year!!!

Dear [Emeebee],
I came to Mom’s on December 23rd. The train was over five hours late and so, didn’t arrive here at the house until around 2:00 AM on Christmas Eve. But we have a tree up and the outside bathed in green flood lights in the front and north side of the house. Mon’s place is painted yellow now. I think when you were here seven years ago, it was white.

Dear [Emeebee],
You might look into Ameritech Voice Mail (VM) on your home phone. It’s really convenient since it allows you to check your messages from anywhere. People can still leave you messages even when you’re on the phone or computer, without getting a busy signal. And, for those (like me) who occasionally would like to send you a VM without ringing your phone directly (say, in the middle of the night), provisions are available for that also. Finally, you can set up pager notification which would page you, when a message comes in. When I lived there, I believe I was paying $6 per month for VM, and you don’t have to worry about an answering machine that fails, or is unavailable during power outages. It’s rather convenient. I have it on all my residence phones.

Dear [Mar],
Will do. And hope you’re settled now, and enjoyed Christmas close to your family.
Looks like I’ll be visiting Dayton in late January. So perhaps we can get together one night.
Where is your dad living now? I heard that he moved recently.
Take care, and will talk to you later.
Tom
Hey there [Lynn]!!
Did the kids get in yesterday? Or, was it TODAY, that they’re coming?
By the way, if I didn’t mention it before, thanks very much for the card that bore greetings from Tabbo, Annie, Killer, et al. I don’t imagine that the cats spend much time outside during this cold snap. Not even Killer.
Well, take care, and will chat with you soon.
Later.

You’re welcome, [Mel]. It would be gratifying to see you remain the camp director for years to come.
On Art’s suitcase: I understand that it was located. Good deal. Perhaps in the 2001 newsletters, you’ll need to underscore more, the bit about only bringing enough medicine to last through the camp stay. Put it in
BIG, BOLD, BRIGHT
letters or something. J

Dear [Lisser],
You’re very welcome. Looks like I’ll be making another trip to Dayton in late January, visiting for a week or so. Among other things, my team will be doing a [workstation component] release during that time. So you and I will probably get to interact then.
I moved back to Philly in November. It’s sure good being back.
Been hitting the dance hall and making new friends. A bit more happening in Philadelphia, than in Altoona, PA, where I was living during most of 2000. 2001 should be a great year. Hey, at least we don’t have Y2K to deal with, ‘eh?
Congratulations, and best wishes for success in your new [...] coordinator position. Hope your kids were happy with what Santa brought them yesterday, and that you got what you needed.
Take care, and will talk to you soon. Perhaps we can try for lunch while I’m there. Will get in touch as the time grows nearer and the dates of the visit are finalized.

Dear [Lynn],
Well, to network the computers, you’d need network cards for each one, some cables, and a network hub. If you coaxed me, I might make a trip up there to help you.
You know, as I see it though, you owe me a visit. After all, you only came to visit me once while I visited you twice. So, I think you should come visit me here in Philly, to even the score. You could see me where I feel most happy and at home, and you could visit your aunt Bella in Kennet Square at the same time. We could rent the car as before, Etc. Come on. It would be a blast to show you around the birth place of America – Independence Mall, Old City, JFK Plaza, Etc. *grin*

Dear [Emeebee],
I’ll be coming back to Dayton for 7 to 10 days in late January. Will let you know the exact dates when I know them. But I must make a presentation to the architecture board, as part of this new strategic planning assignment I’m doing now. Let’s plan to hang out together during that period. It gets awfully lonely in that hotel room all by myself.
If you want to hang with a guy who won’t “deck” you, hang with me. *grin*
Getting the train to Altoona on Saturday, to kick off the holiday vacation. Such a nice 5-hour ride, especially through the mountains with the snow about.
Then, I return to Philly on January 6th, to continue getting my apartment in order.
Then, on the 14th, it’s off to Orlando, Florida for a LotusSphere conference.
Then, on the 18th, it’s off to Dayton for an undetermined period. I have to discuss that with my Mgr. But I suspect it will be for at least 7 days, but possibly 10. Please be available then. Please, please, please??!!??
Anyway, be safe in any traveling you might be doing over the holidays, and will talk to you in January.
Later.

Dear [AM],
No, I’ve taken 5 of them. I’m not an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer). Just an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) at this time. But I’m working on it.
