Planning Camp Trip

Monday, July 16th, 2001

Dear   [Carrie],

Glad to see that you’re doing okay too. Hope your job search is going okay. Stay motivated.

Well, I guess [your son] is out of your hands now. He is an adult. Hopefully he’ll learn how to make his way in life with happiness and minimal friction with those around him. Hopefully his anger has subsided.

I’m back in Philly now. Work is going pretty well. In a state of transition right at the moment, learning a different system that I’ll be supporting in the future. That has me busy reading a great deal. Give me a call if you wish. I’ll be here until Saturday, when we go to camp. Perhaps we’ll see [your daughter] there.

Good luck. You know, you can order [Amtrak] train tickets by phone at 1-800-872-7245, and pick them up at the train station before she leaves. Let me know if you need further assistance on this.

Our train back to Philly on August 1st leaves at 12:34 PM. It is designated as train number 40. She’s welcome to ride back with us if she wishes. In fact, I’ll be getting a cab home from the train station then, and I could have her ride in my cab and we’d drop her off at your apartment on the way up Bustleton [Ave.].

Take care, and give me a call if you have a minute this week. :-)

Later.

Tommy’s Tunes Status: 2001-07-11

Wednesday, July 11th, 2001

Dear sister Diane,

Last night, I added about 100 more songs to the computer – puts it up to 1102 songs. I hope to have several thousand in the machine by Labor Day. Eventually, I want to get my whole CD collection encoded. That will take years though. :-)

Tid Bits: 2001-07-11

Wednesday, July 11th, 2001

Hey there [sister Diane].

Well, Mom is vacuuming the living room. She’s got all the book shelves and other furniture pulled out for painting, dusting, and so on.

My day is going well. I found a neat software package that makes DJ mixing from a PC very easy. It should really enhance the music at the next dance / party we do – probably Labor Day or New Years. I’m evaluating it tonight.

Work is moving along. Still have lots of reading to do in order to get up to speed on this Java stuff, and it’s hard to stay awake through some of it. But I’m starting to feel like I know a little bit about Java Beans development now.

Well, I’d better get back to reading Java. Thanks for writing and will probably talk to you before I return to Philly this Saturday.

Later.

In Altoona Right Now

Sunday, July 8th, 2001

Dear   [Carrie],

Hi there. I’m here in Altoona, and will be returning to Philly on July 14th, thus my delayed response in getting back to you. Further, I didn’t want to make either you or Steve feel uncomfortable by calling. [Steve is her boyfriend.]

All is well here. No, no girlfriend yet. Was talking to [Vee] for a bit, but that has ended once again. Will tell you more about it the next time we talk live.

Work is going well. Lots of changes there too. I’ve lost almost 30 pounds since you last saw me. I hope you’re doing well. [Our Philly friends] are all doing well.

Well, take care, and I’ll talk to you soon. Perhaps I’ll try and call you this week.

Later.

Tom
