Electric Heaters Upstairs

Wednesday, January 30th, 2002

Dear Vanna,

Also, I’ve been keeping busy with settling-in tasks here at the house, installing baseboard heating in the two bedrooms upstairs (these are my living quarters). I’m also taking on some computer upgrade tasks for family members and friends. And with all of this, I just haven’t made time to find out about any para transit-like organizations in this area. But this task is definitely on my list, and once things slow down here a bit, I’ll definitely get it done. Stand by.

But I must get back to work. So take care, and will talk to you soon.

Local Transportation

Wednesday, January 30th, 2002

Dear   [Vanna],

On the local transportation situation here: Haven’t spent any time pursuing that [as of yet].

My Mom is going in for a heart catheterization on Friday, and we’re getting things ready, since she’ll be going to open heart surgery if they find anything. Trying to figure out if there is a safer alternative for her, that would allow the doctors to, just as effectively ascertain, whether she has any blockages, without subjecting her to the risks of such a procedure.

WPSBC Tid Bits

Wednesday, January 30th, 2002

Dear   [Vanna],

The weather has been wonderful the past few days here in Altoona. Getting colder today though.

Wow, interesting news about T and P. I’ve give you back some tid bits.

[Randy] just had a heart attack, and is recovering. Haven’t talked to him since it happened, but he has been dealing with high cholesterol since 1997.

[KC] is doing well. She’s still her bubbly, energetic self. Talked to her in email a couple weeks ago. She sends her regards to all who know her.

[Ron], so far as I know, is still living in Brookville, PA, working as a janitor / building engineer at the local YMCA, although he and I have not communicated since 1996. He was also doing DJ work and some computer repair on the side as well. Yes, he was keeping very busy. He has a very happy disposition and is always eager to talk.

Tad’s Plight at School

Wednesday, January 30th, 2002

Dear   [Vanna],

[Tad] told me of his plight at the school when I visited him last spring. Very unfortunate. He really likes working there. But he’s not doing what he thought he’d be doing, when he took the position. Bait and switch. I guess it’s one of those things where it’s not so bad that he wants to leave immediately, but it irks him that others have been hired after he began his rein there, to do the job for which he himself was hired. I’ve experienced similar situations in my work life, and I can tell you that such situations really sap the morale, and make it chronically difficult to feel good about going to work each day. Hopefully, he’ll either get the position he desires, or be able to move on to other employment. I’ve got to call him. Haven’t talked to him in about six months.

Our Cats

Wednesday, January 30th, 2002

Dear   [Vanna],

Yes, cats make very nice pets. We have two here now, about a year and a half old, black and white kitties with very long tails and loud meows. :) They learned very early on, that the refrigerator is the place to hang out in order to eat well.

Dear Mar

Tuesday, January 29th, 2002

Dear   [Mar],

All is well here. It’s good to be back here [at home in Altoona], once again. Think I’ll be staying a while this time – at least the next three to five years.

Mom’s email address is:
jewelly@charter.net

I will update you in my address book.

Installing Heaters Upstairs

Monday, January 28th, 2002

Dear sister Diane,

The heating project is going well. Both heaters have been installed (one in each of the bedrooms upstairs). Got the wires fished to each of them (fun crawling around in the little space above those bedrooms, getting the wires down inside of the walls). Also, ran the wires down to the basement, to the main circuit breaker panel. However, I’ve not yet hooked them up yet. Before that is done, I have to get the thermostats installed, and when it’s time to make the connection to the mains, I’m going to have Rich come over and help me – don’t want to do that part of the job alone, just in case I’d get shocked and knocked unconscious or something.

Well, thanks for writing. I have to go and prepare for a code review coming up on Wednesday.

Take care, and will talk to you soon.

A Walk Today? Perhaps

Monday, January 28th, 2002

Dear sister Diane,

Very nice weather today. Hope to get out back later this afternoon, and stand down at the river for a time before the sun goes down. I might also take a walk at the cemetery.

Weather Report: 2002-01-24

Thursday, January 24th, 2002

Dear   [Tina],

Sorry to hear about Rob. Hopefully, he’ll regain some sight very soon.

Snow all melted here over the last couple of days as well. Now, everything’s just very muddy.

How are you managing with that cold you had a couple weeks ago? Better yet?

Later,
Tom
