No More Great Raises

Yes, I might never again see those exceeds-most ratings, and have an idea about why [my boss] is denying this.Ā  He believes that I’m getting paid pretty well, and so, doesn’t want to make me seem too good. He’s got to limit my raise so he can spread the wealth around throughout his group, and avoid creating the impression among his bosses that he’s repeatedly favoring me.Ā  So, he must justify his rational for giving me a low raise.Ā  Thus, he appraises me as an average performer when in fact, my work quality has not lessened from last year, when he declared me ā€œthe model example of a home-based employee.ā€Ā  Ā Ā Some authority might have said to my manager that I’m getting paid too much, and advised him to throttle back my wages a little.Ā  It’s possible.
