Friends:
I’m writing to express concern over a pig farm your office is currently considering allowing, which is beside the PA Lions Beacon Lodge Camp, near Mount Union, PA. The camp’s address is: 114 SR 103 South, Mount Union PA 17066.
I attend camp during the summer and in early December, and am vision-impaired, as are the nearly two-hundred others who visit each year.
Most camp activities happen outdoors, including hiking, fishing, archery, gun shooting, boating, and overnight camp fires among others. I’m worried that the pig farm will create foul odors and interfere with our enjoyment of the camp’s woodsy, fresh-air setting. We don’t want to be driven indoors by the stench, since our primary reason for camping there is to be outside.
I urge you therefore, to deny permission for the farm.
Thank you,
Tom Hesley
