Printer and Hard Drive Tid Bits
Dear [Lynn],
About your printer: Most computers, even though they have USB ports, also have the traditional 1284 printer port. The Canon probably has this type of port and cable. So you should be able to use it on either yours or Lucy’s computers. You should be able to just plug the printer into which ever computer you want, and Plug-N-Play will configure it correctly.
On the external hard drives: As long as they say USB 2.0 on them, and are at least 120 GB, don’t worry about the rest. Speed isn’t important in this application. So don’t concern yourself with access times, platter rotational speeds, and data transfer rates.
Yep, a visit would be nice. But I don’t have the money I used to.
Maybe someday. But for now, I’m going to be poor for the foreseeable future. Nowadays, when I take a trip, I have to plan for it for a couple months. No spur-of-the-moment jaunts these days. *grin*
Good luck. You’ll get it to work.
Tom
