Dear [Rick],
All is well here.
Yes, I enjoyed camp immensely this year, though I wasn’t thrilled with how [Bodey] treated [Emmy] and me. So [I] wrote [Mel] a letter about her. Then, [she] made [Bodey] call me and apologize. That was a nice gesture, though I’m not convinced that [Bodey] was one hundred percent sincere. But oh well. At least [Mel] knows about the situation and now that [Bodey] knows that she knows, perhaps she’ll behave better toward campers next year.
I too heard from [Joel] a few days ago. He’s going to critique some of my writing. That should make for some great feedback, because he has experience as a editor and chief of college newspapers. I hope to send him some stuff in the next week or so.
I haven’t written much in the book lately, because a book is a big undertaking for a new writer. So I’ve been working on shorter articles this year to get myself used to the whole writing process. I feel too that the smaller pieces will be easier to publish than a big book, at least until I’m better known. Plus, I want to read up on how other writers write books, to learn how they organize their thoughts so well and the best styles to use. So until that’s done, the strategy to keep it small will be in effect, probably for the next year or two at least. Then, I’ll get back to the book.
Take care,
Tom
