Sony makes several nice models. I like this one…
* SONY D-NE500SILVER ATRAC3 CD WALKMAN PORTABLE COMPACT DISC PLAYER- SILVER FINISH It takes just one AA battery and will play for 60 to 70 hours before needing a new battery. It appears to be quite rugged and you can find it for around $80.
Sony has several cheaper models as well, all of which seem quite good.

* Sony Atrac3/MP3 CD Walkman D-NE319 – CD / MP3 player, $60.
I’ve seen the last one at Wal Mart. You wouldn’t go wrong with Sony.
