Plato Book Search Problems
Dear [Mentat],
I’m wondering: Is JAWS sensitive to the display mode in which you’re running your computer? Some web sites suggest that to view them correctly, you must be running 800 X 600 or 1024 X 768. Maybe Amazon is “too big” for your current screen mode. A look from a sighted person should be able to confirm this for you.
You know, XP has a remote assistance facility built in that allows one person to gain control of another’s computer remotely. I used it a few times at work. If I connected to your machine, I could see your desktop and the programs you are running as well as move your mouse around. I’ve only used this feature a couple times and I’m not sure how easy making it work through our firewalls through low upload speeds and such would be. But this is an option if all else fails.
Hmmm, I’ll order this book you mention. It might be a good way to dip a toe into Aristotelian waters without getting too involved with understanding his minutest nuances.
Well, I’ve not read any of the book I bought in September yet. As I might have told you, I recently signed up for NLS again and over the past month, they’ve sent me around seven talking books and a few of them were quite long (22 sides). Plus, they sent me two big large print books which have to be returned in 30 days. So, I’ve been reading them to try and keep up.
But back to Aristotle: I did begin reading that book. However, I soon became lost. So, I’ve read several introductory articles on Aristotle from the Web as well as some lay man’s articles on philosophy in general. The book at present still seems quite beyond me however. But perhaps in a year, I’ll attempt it again.
