AAC Encoder License

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

Hi.

These were my thoughts too.

However, there’s an MP4 encoder I’m using (Apple’s QuickTime) that won’t allow me to encode audio files into MP4 without this license, even though I’m only encoding for personal use. But we’ve come up with a work-around, so this is not an issue currently.

Thanks so much for responding,
Tom

Soundproof Material Samples

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

Hi.

I have not yet received the two samples of the premium sound-reducing underlayment, and two of the standard underlayment that you were going to send me. Might they have gotten lost in the mail? I’m still interested in using this in my office area when I replace the carpet.

Thanks,
Tom

HD 650 Headphones

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

Dear [Emmy],

All is good today. The guy paid me for the headphones this morning. So I took them to the post office. Nice sunny day today. I also sent out a check for the Stevia powder.

My contact in State College couldn’t find any info out about the Sennheiser HD-650 headphones I’m looking into buying. Apparently, his distributor doesn’t carry them. I’ll just buy one pair and see how they work. Then, we’ll just have to see about the others.

Yes, I like puttering with stuff around the house and fixing things. I even get a little thrill when changing a light bulb. :-)

Well, enjoy your day. Will talk to you tonight.

Cell Phone Batteries

Monday, April 24th, 2006

Dear [Emmy],

Yep, those phone batteries last roughly 2 to 3 years, and then they go bad, so I’ve read. Perhaps yours is dying early.

Okay, I’ll call you after 10:00 PM.

Have a good work-out.

Emmy Knows Her Equipment

Dear [Emmy],

Well, I’d say that you’re getting pretty savvy with your equipment, especially since you got it fixed. Yep, cell phones can be a pain.

Tid Bits to Emmy

Friday, April 21st, 2006

Dear [Emmy],

Yep, all is well here, and I got a good sleep last night. Tonight, I want to read you some tid-bits about alcohol, so you can make an “informed” decision about using it.

I’m going up the street in a few minutes to get some air connectors for my compressor in the basement.

The headphones I have on Ebay went up to $74 overnight. And, there’s three days left to go for the listing. Hopefully, I’ll get back what I paid for them.

Talk to you later, and I hope your day is going well.

Updating Mark

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

Dear [Mark],

Oh, just keeping busy around the house. I’m redoing most of our plumbing because our water pressure has been rather low for some time now. I believe the hard water here is clogging the copper pipes we have. So, I’m putting in plastic pipes and valves. It’s fun.

Anyway, the convention is August 11th through the 13th, 2006. We’ll be sending out more info about it once it has been determined.

Super Audio CDs

Monday, April 17th, 2006

Dear [Mentat],

Well, I’d have to hear one of these to prove to myself that their fidelity is appreciably better than standard PCM CDs. But hey, I have an open mind. :-) At least the MP4 file format would support the extra audio channels in SuperAudio.

Electrostatic Headphones Need Power

Thursday, April 13th, 2006

Yes, I just tried them on a 50-watt amp. They worked much better. :-) At least now, I won’t have to build an amp for them.

Alumni Convention Flier

Thursday, April 13th, 2006

Sure, let me know when you have the flier complete. If you have it available in electronic form (like a Word document or some other format), send it along. That would make it easy to put it on the web site. Or, just plain text would be great as well.

As far as contacting us, there’s a link called “Contact Us” on the left side of the home page that gives [our president's] phone number.
