Alarm Siren As A Gift

Dear [Mentat],

Actually, [Tad] was wondering what they ever did with that old siren once they built the additions where it used to be. So I thought I’d try and find one for him (Don’t tell him). Problem is that the sirens that look like the school one, these days, seem to have a much higher pitch. Either that, or they don’t have the same sound. Some sound muffled while others have more of a screaming timbre. The other issue is that the school siren was mounted on the side of the building, perhaps 15 to 20 feet off of the ground. So I never did get a real close look at it. However, even from a distance, it appeared pretty large. It had a large horn, like a trumpet, that looked to be around two feet long, and the motor in the back that drove the fans looked to be 6’’ long. I’m just about certain that it ran on 120 volts, although it could have been 240 volts. Yes, if I ever find one, I’ll get [Emmy] with it a few times.

Yes, on the STTNG 2.0: It has a bunch of scrolling trivia information on the outer edges of the screen, which is present at all times during the broadcast except for the beginning and closing theme songs. I don’t like it because they make the program content a lot smaller on the screen. I’m glad I have the DVDs.

I just ordered all seven seasons of ST:Voyager on DVD, and someone on Ebay is offering the complete set of ST:Enterprise DVDs for $125. I’m not sure if I’ll get those yet or not. I probably will though, just because they’re still Star Trek.

Later,
Tom Hesley
