I worked yesterday on getting Google to see the web pages in my site. I submitted the site URLs individually using Google’s site submission form. Visit http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl to see that (I list this here because it took me a while to find and I don’t want to forget it). That seemed to work okay – at least no errors appeared. But even after several hours the sites still hadn’t been indexed. It likely takes some days to process the request. In fact, one site I manage for my high school’s alumni organization (http://wpsbc-alumni.org/) appeared several weeks after I submitted it. So I might just have to be patient.
But I’m not patient. :-) So after just a few hours, I thought I’d try submitting site map XML files for http://tomhesley.com/ as well as http://prosaic-expressions.com/ . Some Google forums claim that this is the best way to get new sites considered quickly. This took several more hours because there were errors in these files that unfortunately you don’t find out about until after submission, and each submission can take up to an hour to process. But finally, in the wee hours, I got both site maps to process without problems. Still though, my sites haven’t been indexed yet. But at least Google knows about them now. Hopefully, it’s just a matter of time.
Also, I added another blog to my site, called Tom’s Views, which you can access at http://tomsviews.com/. No posts there yet, but I’m thinking!
