Site Status

Friday, March 13th, 2009

The work continues to upload all my journal entries from the past thirty years to my blogcasts. I’ve added 150 posts so far to the   Tom’s Love Quest   site, and Google   has added 45 of those to their index at present.

Still though, no one except   [Emmy]   has posted any comments, so I must take steps to promote the site. I should get to that in the coming weeks.

I’m not in a rush to do that though until I get this Internet publishing business incorporated. I called the attorney this morning about moving that along but there was no answer, and no opportunity to leave him voice mail. So I’ll try him a few times next week and if I still can’t get him, then I’ll seek another lawyer.

The   Tom’s Love Quest   site has some HTML bugs. These cause the navigation menu bar in the footer section of all pages to display incorrectly. So I’m perusing the WordPress PHP files, hoping to spot the problem. So far though, no success.

The bandwidth usage on my web sites has steadily risen over the past couple weeks. No doubt, much of this is from me uploading my new posts. But I like thinking that it’s people viewing my sites. Yep, I’ll just keep on dreaming until the dreams come true. :-)    I’m confident that they will soon.

The Google AddSense application I submitted last week has been approved. I’m looking to include Google ads on my sites, as a source of revenue. But before I modify the code to turn them on, I must provide a privacy policy that warns users that following links to these ads places cookies on their computers. So I’ll find a generic privacy policy that says this, and lays out other good policies, and then add it to my site before putting the advertisements on.

I’m working tomorrow on an article that contrasts the inner and outer beauty of a person, and will show why I think it makes no sense to divide the two concepts into opposing and dichotomous entities. I’ll argue that they do coexist and that, in fact, they exist as one. You just can’t meaningfully split the whole person into these two notions because of how each one so profoundly influences the other. That is, in my view, a person’s outer (physical) beauty and the mind inside are one, as both are needed equally to completely define who a person is. But I better save the rest of my thoughts for the article. So keep watching the Tom’s Love Quest site, and you’ll see it there shortly.

More later,

St. Patrick’s Day Party

Friday, March 13th, 2009

[Emmy],   Mom, two of my sisters, their husbands, and I, went to a St. Patrick’s Day party at the Altoona Jaffa Mosque tonight. They served chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, sliced beef, and assorted desserts. An Irish country and western band played the evening through as I conversed with a couple of old classmates and friends.

We marveled at how little smoke there was. Usually, where there’s lots of drinking, there’s lots of smoke as well; but not this time. Not there.

[Emmy]   and I danced a few songs, bought green tee shirts, and hung out at our table listening to the music. We enjoyed ourselves but don’t know yet if we’ll go again next year. Why not? We didn’t like the beef. :-)

Reducing Spending

Friday, March 13th, 2009

I have realized that not only does addiction occur for sugar, it happened with snuff and caffeine as well. But it applies to most anything that gives me pleasure; that gives me reprieve from life’s plights.

I notice the same addition to spending. Sometimes it takes all I have to keep from excessively spending. This addiction I want to get over too.

Yet I’m toying with the idea of investing in more music because I can get some real cheap through Promo Only. However, I have _enough_ music. I have a broad array of popular stuff, and I pay over sixty dollars a month to keep my collection current. So I don’t know if I want to get any more.

I’d like to master this addiction principle in general. If I could eliminate all addiction from my life, I’d be a lot better off.

Craving seems to be a function of depression. But anyway, enough of that for now. I’ll get to that in another post.
