The Train Trip to Pittsburgh
Sunday, April 5th, 2009[Mentat] and I got the train this afternoon from Tyrone, PA to Pittsburgh. We had a beautiful Sunday; not a cloud in the sky and the sun was a blazing. Mom drove me there and [Mentat's] sister brought him a little later. The temps were in the low sixties.
The train was a half-hour late at Tyrone, but arrived at Pittsburgh only five minutes late. I gess we did some boogying on the way through Altoona, Johnstoiwn, Latrobe, Greensburg, and finally, Pittsburgh.
On the way, I enjoyed a garden burger from the snack car, and [Mentat] had a bag of pretzels. We both had pop as well, and filled the whole trip with lots of great conversation. I didn’t know the work [Mentat] had done at McDonnald’s back in the 90s. So I enjoyed listening to his work stories. I shared some of mine as well, and I’m sure he got the message loud and clear that I’m not crazy about working in corporate America any longer.
We got a Classy Cab from the train station to [Emmy's]. We paid $13.50 for the fare, which about 40% more than the Yellow Cab fare of $9.50. The driver justified the extra expense by saying that Classy drivers do not smoke in their cabs and that Classy Cab vehicles are quieter and in better condition than those of the compeditors.
We arrived at [Emmy's] at 8:30 and the three of us dined on Froot Loops and fat free milk, since it was really too late to eat anything heavier.
