Took the train to Pittsburgh for this weekend’s WPSBC alumni social tomorrow.  [Mentat's] sister picked me up at around 4:30 PM in a pelting rain on this dark gray and dreary day.  The rain made it hard to see very far on northbound I-99 to Tyrone.  However, we arrived at the train stop without incident.  The train was around a half-hour late, but made up all but about ten minutes of that time by the time we arrived at Pittsburgh at 8:10 or so.  The ride was nice although I didn’t do any napping; my favorite activity on the train.  [Mentat] and I talked the whole way.  I told him about my telephone social networking woes and he showed me his new GW Micro book reading device.  Nice.  Then, we did an hour or so of philosophizing.

We took a Yellow Taxi to [Emmy's].  Didn’t have to wait too long for it, although an illegal jitney driver tried tricking us into thinking that he was a legitimate cab driver.  He claimed to be a People’s Cab driver while placing our luggage into his car as I kept asking him where the cab sign was; his car had none.  He said that today, he was using his own car.  Then I asked him to show me his receipt book that displayed a legal cab company’s logo and name.  He couldn’t do that either; instead producing a generic receipt book that anyone could buy at Staples or Office Max.  He got irritated and a bit belligerent when I asked him to give us back our luggage.  Fortunately, he quickly went off to find another customer rather than bother us further, and a true Yellow Taxicab came a long within a few minutes.  We arrived at [Emmy's] at around 9:00 PM.

Then, the three of us went to a nearby pizza joint and each got a small pizza.  [Emmy] also ordered a small garden salad.

After dinner, we went back to [Emmy's] to hang out for a few hours, allowing our food to sufficiently digest before going to bed.  That didn’t help though, as my sleep this night was still quite broken.  I think some of that was due to my excitement about tomorrow’s WPSBC alumni social gathering.  You never know who’s gonig to be there and I’m understandably excited to learn who will surprise us with a visit.

The weather in Altoona was rainy all day.  It was dry in Pittsburgh, though it was mostly cloudy.  Low 70s for this high temperatures.
