Prepared the treasurer’s report for the   WPSBC Alumni Association   board meeting tomorrow night.

On the   Wheelchair Ramp Project:  Removed the flower props from the south flower bed box in preparation for removal of this box, and began removing the dirt from the box.  Click   here   to see a list of all of today’s accomplishments on this effort.

Journaled for an hour or two.

Watched The Young and the Restless, Meet the Press, Dr. Phil, and NBC Nightly News.

Found a container of beef and onion soup in the basement freezer, which I ate for lunch.  Lots of beef.  Pretty good.  I may move the stuff in that freezer up to the kitchen one and then turn off the basement one to save electricity while Mom is gone.  Besides, the basement freezer needs defrosting anyway.

Defrosted the basement freezer.  Took about 40 minutes to complete, with the assistance of my trusty heat gun.  I just sat the gun on the floor about three feet away from the open freezer and aimed the airstream into the freezer.  It melted most of the frost in about a half hour.  What was left fell to the bottom of the freezer or to the floor outside, where I just picked it up with a Shop Vac.  Then, I wiped out the inside; some bean soup had spilled in there.  But it’s all clean now.

Unfortunately, we can’t fit both Mom’s and my food into the freezer in the kitchen.  Oh well.  give me a couple weeks of eating frozen foods and perhaps we’ll be able to fit it all in then.  :-)

Talked with [Emmy], to wrap up the night.  It’s a neat nightly tradition.

Partly sunny today, with most of the sunshine occurring this morning.  The afternoon was all gray and a bit dark.  No rain however, with temperatures reaching the mid 60s.  A good day for yard work.

Mom’s Status: 2009-10-06

Talked with Mom at around 11:00 AM.  I woke her from what sounded like a deep sleep.  So I couldn’t tell if her weak and groggy voice was because she was still sick, or because she was just very tired.  She said she wasn’t feeling much better.  But it was good to see her sleeping, undisturbed, until I called that is.  :-)

She sure woke up in a hurry though, when I suggested cutting down that overgrown hemlock tree by the back porch to make ramp installation easier.  Needless to say, she rejected this proposal.  But the suggestion did clear her head for the rest of our conversation, which was good because I had other   Wheelchair Ramp Project   business to discuss as well.  So, as I’ve found, if you want her awake and focused, just talk about chopping down a tree somewhere.  You’ll quickly get her complete awareness, as well as her undivided attention and a bit of anger and irritation too.  I promise.  :-)
