Mom’s Status: 2009-10-09

Mom called at aroun 9:20 AM today and we talked for around an hour.  She sounded quite alert and happy, and really eager to come home.

I mentioned that small ramp we’d have to build outside the south door to get her through the door, from the house floor down to the porch.  No big deal; this ramp need only be a few inches high, but does require our consideration nonetheless.  She agreed.

She had been looking forward to sister JoJo and I visiting today.  But she understood why we couldn’t come when I explained that JoJo’s kids had the day off of school because of an in-service day and that they already had a full day of activities planned.

We talked about Gram and Pap Jewell and I asked her more than a few questions about those “good old days” and those good old people.  She enjoyed sharing the memories, and so, perhaps it would be good, while she’s still relatively healthy in mind (if not in body), to record her talking about her past and future legacies.  There are just so many blanks that she could fill in, and I got so caught up in the stories that I had to restrain the asking, so as to avoid firing the questions as though I was shooting a machine gun.  But she knows a lot of stuff that I’d like to know as well before she leaves us forever.  I just hope there’s enough time to get her to say all of it.
