Today’s Business: 2009-10-16

05:40 AM: [Jack] left me a message, saying that a fellow whom I’d call a key bully on one of the online forums in which I’ve been participating, was just deleted.  This is great news because this person’s crude and intentionally nasty treatment of others was a big reason I left that voice mail system.  Hmmm.  Maybe I’ll go back once I’m sure tha this person is gone for good.  I did have lots of fun there debating the issues there over the summer.  But I’ll probably not return any time soon however, as there are several others out there that behaved very badly as well, and who engage in activities that I’d not even consider doing myself. Besides, I’m too busy these days with the projects around here to hang out on a chat line all day.  If I would ever get back on a chat line, I’d like to find one where people behave less abusively and that I have more in common with.

07:50 AM: I’m up.  On the   Wheelchair Ramp Project: Dick Mayhue just called to say that he’s on his way over with more stone.  Today, he’s bringing a driver with him to bring more shale in while he operates his bobcat to spread what’s already here.  This should save some time.  I’m hopeful we can get all the gravel delivered and spread today.

08:00 AM: The current temperature is 35 degrees and the weather appears to be the same as yesterday; gray with a rain, sleet, and snow mix, and we have around a half-inch of snow accumulated on the grassy areas.

o8:14 AM: Time to get Mom up and give her her morning meds.

09:12 AM: Gave Mom her meds, unloaded the dishwasher, washed the crock pot from last night’s meal, and cleaned the cats’ litter boxes; a rather non boring startup routine for the day, would yo not say?  :-)    Next, I’m going to trudge over to the drug store and get her more lancets.

10:45 AM: Just got back from the drug store.  Purchased more lancets for Mom and some iron pills as well.

02:50 PM: The workers outside left for today.  I’ve paid them all that they were owed for their gravel hauling and spreading work done thus far for the   Wheelchair Ramp Project.

04:30 PM: Just watched yesterday’s episode of The Young and the Restless.  Now, after that, I think I’ll take a nap.

07:30 PM: Reminded nephew Garrett about the DJ wedding gig I have coming up next weekend.  He’ll be transporting the equipment and me to and from the reception site.

08:00 PM: Just finished cleaning up from supper.  I had 12 Oz. of salmon, seasoned with lemon pepper, and some raisins for dessert and some diet caffeine free Pepsi.

09:00 PM: Watched today’s episode of The Young and the Restless.

10:00 PM: Talked with [Emmy].

11:15 PM: Gave Mom her bedtime meds, and I’m going to bed myself, right now.  :-)   Good night.

Mom’s Status: 2009-10-16

09:15 AM: She got her insulin and meds for the morning, and though her foot was hurting a little, she is in a good mood so far.  She had an Activia and a glass of orange juice for breakfast, and  I’m no longer concerned about her being dehydrated.  She’s now drinking lots of fluids.  Blood sugar: 200.  Gave 6 units of insulin to compensate.

12:45 PM: Gave Mom her lunch meds.  Blood sugar: 184.  Gave six units of insulin.  She had a slice of bread with peanut butter and a glass of milk with ice.

01:00 PM: Home nurse arrives.  She and Mom chatted for an hour or so.  Everything appears normal so far.

04:00 PM:  Mom’s new endocrinologist’s office moved her appointment up from December 7th to November 2nd, 2009 @ 11:00 AM.  With her blood sugars consistently running 250 or higher, he wants to see her sooner.

07:00 PM: Blood sugar: 208.  Countered with 8 units insulin.  She had a can of chicken noodle soup and a spoon or two of peanut butter for supper, along with a glass of root beer.  She ordered more insulin.  However, her doctor must call in a prescription for her insulin delivery supplies, and we have to get her test strips from the company that makes the Accucheck Aviva glucometer she uses.  She’s to call them tomorrow, and get the prescription called in on Monday.

08:00 PM: She’s been on the phone with friends quite a bit and is quite cheery and pleasant.

11:00 PM: Blood sugar reading: 224.  Countered with 10 units of insulin.
