Mom’s Status: 2009-10-16
09:15 AM: She got her insulin and meds for the morning, and though her foot was hurting a little, she is in a good mood so far.  She had an Activia and a glass of orange juice for breakfast, and I’m no longer concerned about her being dehydrated. She’s now drinking lots of fluids. Blood sugar: 200. Gave 6 units of insulin to compensate.
12:45 PM: Gave Mom her lunch meds. Blood sugar: 184. Gave six units of insulin. She had a slice of bread with peanut butter and a glass of milk with ice.
01:00 PM: Home nurse arrives. She and Mom chatted for an hour or so. Everything appears normal so far.
04:00 PM:  Mom’s new endocrinologist’s office moved her appointment up from December 7th to November 2nd, 2009 @ 11:00 AM. With her blood sugars consistently running 250 or higher, he wants to see her sooner.
07:00 PM: Blood sugar: 208. Countered with 8 units insulin. She had a can of chicken noodle soup and a spoon or two of peanut butter for supper, along with a glass of root beer. She ordered more insulin. However, her doctor must call in a prescription for her insulin delivery supplies, and we have to get her test strips from the company that makes the Accucheck Aviva glucometer she uses. She’s to call them tomorrow, and get the prescription called in on Monday.
08:00 PM: She’s been on the phone with friends quite a bit and is quite cheery and pleasant.Â
11:00 PM: Blood sugar reading: 224. Countered with 10 units of insulin.
