08:10 AM: I’m up.  It’s still raining outside, with temperatures running at around 36 degrees.  Haven’t seen the sun for a few days.

09:36 AM: Got Mom breakfast and started a load of white laundry.

10:55 AM: Journaled for an hour or so.  Didn’t record anything.  Just listened to existing entries.

02:00 PM: Put the laundry I washed this morning away.

05:00 PM: Wrote three new posts for the   Tom’s Love Quest   blog.  Click   here   for more details.

09:15 PM: Completed the weekly site backups.  Click   here   for more details.

10:01 PM: Talked with [Emmy], and we listened to the second half of the Penguins game against the Tampa Bay Lightning  on Internet radio.  The Pens won 4 to 1.

10:52 PM: Heading off to bed.  Good night, and catch you tomorrow.  :-)

New Love Quest Posts: 2009-10-17

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

I wrote the following posts today:

A returned letter I’d written to [Molly], a girl to whom I’ll affectionately refer as my   second love   inspired these writings.  Mom found this letter in her family memorabilia and gave it to me some months ago. I’ve been thinking about what I’d say about [Molly] ever since, and it was only today that the path to my complete expressions of her meaning to me became clear.  I do sometimes, still miss her, though I was but a 7th grader when we first met.

Mom’s Status: 2009-10-17

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

09:37 AM: Blood sugar: 131 — pretty good actually.  Covered with six units of insulin.  She had a bowl of Rice Krispies with 2% milk and a glass of orange juice.  She’s gone back to bed for now.

12:00 PM: Nephew Garrett stopped by and chatted with Mom in her bedroom for around a half-hour.

12:20 PM: Then, sister JoJo and her daughter Katie came calling.  They’re still here.

01:00 PM: Mom’s special male friend came by too.

01:15 PM: Blood sugar: 174.  Covered with ten units of insulin, as she will be eating shortly.

02:45 PM: All visitors have gone now, and Mom has settled down into her nest for an afternoon nap.  Sister JoJo is going to cook some supper and bring Mom some of it.

06:20 PM: Mom’s blood sugar reading: 141.  Covered with 8 units insulin, as she’s eating immediately.

06:40  PM: Sister JoJo, her daughter and a friend of her daughter, stopped in.  They brought scarecrow chili and a banana muffin that Mom and I split.  Then, they played a card game called 2500.  Mom was in great spirits the whole evening, owing I believe, to her better-controlled blood sugar since she’s been home.

10:15 PM: Blood sugar reading: 278.  Covered with 12 units of insulin.  It’s likely high because she had some chili with pasta in it for supper and a few bites of banana bread.
