Mom’s Status: 2009-10-17
09:37 AM: Blood sugar: 131 — pretty good actually.  Covered with six units of insulin. She had a bowl of Rice Krispies with 2% milk and a glass of orange juice. She’s gone back to bed for now.
12:00 PM: Nephew Garrett stopped by and chatted with Mom in her bedroom for around a half-hour.
12:20 PM: Then, sister JoJo and her daughter Katie came calling. They’re still here.
01:00 PM: Mom’s special male friend came by too.
01:15 PM: Blood sugar: 174. Covered with ten units of insulin, as she will be eating shortly.
02:45 PM: All visitors have gone now, and Mom has settled down into her nest for an afternoon nap. Sister JoJo is going to cook some supper and bring Mom some of it.
06:20 PM: Mom’s blood sugar reading: 141. Covered with 8 units insulin, as she’s eating immediately.
06:40 PM: Sister JoJo, her daughter and a friend of her daughter, stopped in. They brought scarecrow chili and a banana muffin that Mom and I split. Then, they played a card game called 2500. Mom was in great spirits the whole evening, owing I believe, to her better-controlled blood sugar since she’s been home.
10:15 PM: Blood sugar reading: 278. Covered with 12 units of insulin. It’s likely high because she had some chili with pasta in it for supper and a few bites of banana bread.
