Today’s Business: 2009-10-26

07:50 AM: I got up just long enough to give Mom her meds.  Now I’m headed back to bed for a few more hours.  I stayed up way too late this morning.  :-)

09:50 AM:  I’m up.  Well, never went back to bed actually because once I sat down at the computer and listened to that lipstick game song   Here Comes the Night  from Nick Gilder a few more times, any drowsiness I felt quickly retreated so that now I’m wide awake and feeling fine.  Besides, sister Mary Ann is on her way up to visit for a few hours, and so I get to show off my new Mr. Coffee coffee maker. 

11:15 AM: Sister Mary Ann and I took Mom on a   Wal Mart shopping trip   so she could pick up some Halloween candy for her grandchildren.

03:00 PM: Worked outside for a bit on the  Gutter Maintenance   and   Wheelchair Ramp   projects.

05:00 PM: Worked the  Christmas Lighting, 2009   project today.  Began putting up our yearly Christmas light display.

08:00 PM:  Took a nap for an hour and then watched today’s episode of  The Young and the Restless.

10:15 PM: Talked with [Emmy].  She considered coming here for trick or treat night this Thursday.  But she cannot, for she would have too many appointments to reschedule if she did.

11:54 PM: I’m off to bed.  Good night.

Christmas Lighting: 2009

This year, as well as last, the color scheme with which we’ll decorate the outside of our house and around the property, will be deep and vibrant blues and whites.  As I put up each piece of the show, I’ll document the effort in the comments section of this post.

Shopping Trip to Wal Mart

While sister Mary Ann, Mom, and I were out and about, we decided to stop at Wal Mart.  We purchased the following:

  • Skittles Jumbo Pack (1 bag)
  • Mars Chocolate Bars Pack (1 bag)
  • Fluorescent colored post-it note tablet (1)
  • Equate Foot Cream (1 tube)
  • Equate Antibiotic Ointment (1 tube)
  • Crest Toothpaste (1 tube)

 

Total cost: $32.10

Mom’s Status: 2009-10-26

Monday, October 26th, 2009

07:50 AM: Blood sugar: 161.  Covered with 12 units insulin; she ate more pie.

10:50 AM: Mom’s physical therapist just arrived.  She’s working Mom with the various exercises to build up her legs and back.

12:30 PM: Lunch at Olive Garden.  Covered with 12 units insulin.

02:30 PM: Blood sugar: 202.  Covered with 10 units insulin.

10:15 PM: Blood sugar: 302.  Covered with 16 units insulin.  She’s eaten way too many carbs today and, shame on me, we forgot to do her supper time insulin dose, where we probably could have headed off this late-night high reading.  We’ll do better tomorrow.
