Today’s Chores

  • Showering
  • Cat duty
  • Garbage collection
  • Dispensing Mom’s meds

Log

07:45 AM: I’m up.

07:50 AM: I hope to accomplish the following today:

  • Buy some lag bolts and a few other supplies for the   wheelchair ramp project   at Surplus City.
  • Put away all the clutter on the bedroom floor.
  • Vacuum and dust the bedroom.

09:40 AM: Worked the   Christmas lighting, 2009   project.  Put up some LED strings on the lilac bush in the north west, front yard.

12:25 PM: Worked the   ongoing power outages resolution effort.  Added surge protectors to all phone and cable outlets in my bedroom.

01:00 PM:   Cleaned and organized my bedroom.

03:00 PM: Watched the 2009-10-18 episode of NBC’s  Meet the Press.

06:15 PM: Watched the 2009-10-21 and 2009-10-22 episodes of   Dr. Phil.

06:20 PM: Debbie is here and ready to head to the store.  Catch you when I get back.

07:25 PM: I’m home from the   shopping trip,   and it took us less than an hour to spend nearly $60.  We’re good, aren’t we?

09:10 PM: Continued with   cleaning and organizing my bedroom.

10:15 PM: Talked with [Emmy].

10:45 PM: I’m going to bed now.  I may watch today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless if I’m not too tired.  But I am pretty beat though, so perhaps I’ll just watch half of it.  The DVR’s nice that way because I can pause and pick up where I left off tomorrow, and as long as the power does not fail, it will remember the last show I was watching and the time location within that show where I stopped.  Cool.

Take care, and see you tomorrow.

Duplicate Title Tags

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

10:00 AM: While perusing the stats pages Google provides for my blogs, one suggestion they made was to eliminate duplicate titles in posts.  They provided a list of the most-duplicated titles, which is very convenient, and which for my blogs, was rather large.  So in the coming days, I’ll be adding words and dates to the repeated titles they found, and hopefully, this will get Google and other search engines to index a higher percentage of my documents.  If that happens, then more of my stuff will show up in peoples’ search results, which is, after all, what I’m after.

Clean Bedroom: 2009-11-18

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

09:30 AM: Put away all of the following from the bedroom floor:

  • caps,
  • papers,
  • cords,
  • home maintenance books,
  • DVDs,
  • the scrapbook of the first two decades of my life that Mom made for me as I grew up
  • Christmas lights and the replacement bulbs for them,
  • work clothes,
  • weights (put them in the basement)
  • jackets and robes,
  • straw hats that [Emmy] and I wore in 2008 when we walked regularly at the cemetery,
  • extra pillows; I keep four on the bed proper, and the other two in the south west corner of the bedroom,
  • obsolete sketches of the   wheelchair ramp project,
  • manuals for the new remote controls, for the recently-completed   remote control replacement project, 2009.  I put these in the drawer underneath the TV.,
  • old store receipts from Sheets, Walmart, Etc.,
  • extra plastic shopping bags (which I bagged up for recycling during the next trip to Walmart),
  • other Misc. clutter.

12:15 PM:  Pulled out both chests and plugged in the new Philips surge protector I purchased last week, and moved the old one over to the office, onto my printer and shredder, per the   ongoing power outages resolution effort.

01:00 PM: While back there, I vacuumed as well.

01:10 PM: Moved the boxed DVDs down to the basement in an effort to get away from using living space for long-term storage of infrequently used items.  Now, [Emmy] will once more have a place near the door to put her suitcase when she arrives next week.

01:20 PM: Throwing out devices that still partially work has always been hard for me to do.  But keeping them around, especially once replacements have beeen obtained, contributes to clutter.  So I pitched the first DVR remote I got in 2007, as some of the buttons would not work unless you really pressed them hard.

02:40 PM: Pitched all old food in the bedroom, and took the rest downstairs to the basement pantry.  Not only does this aid in weight control (no food around in the bedroom to entice me), but it also cuts clutter and frees up space for more appropriate bedroom items like sheets, shavers, and such.

06:30 PM: Did all laundry, including my non-bleach-able and bleach-able ones; sheets, underwear, pillow protectors, and blanket.

08:00 PM: Dusted all dresser, night stand, and chair tops along with heater tops, window sills, and the TV proper.

10:45 PM: Well, I still have some vacuuming left; the floor and the shelves, that I’ll get to tomorrow.

08:00 AM: Blood sugar: 127.

01:40 PM: Blood sugar: 260.  Covered with 18 units of log insulin.

06:15 PM: Blood sugar: 137.  Covered with 8 units of log insulin.

10:15 PM: Blood sugar: 84.  Guess I gave her a little too much insulin at supper.  But she experienced no shakes and did eat some bread to get the reading up into the low to mid one-hundreds.
