08:00 AM: I’m up, and performing my usual morning rituals:
08:45 AM: Worked the household organization effort.
11:13 AM: Watched the 2009-10-23 episode of Dr. Phil, that dealt with racism (or more specifically, hidden bias against other races in America).
12:10 PM: Watched the 2009-10-26 episode of Dr. Phil, which focused on the Dr. Phil family (so far, he’s done that each Monday this season). I’m actually bored with the Dr. Phil Family series however. He’s tracking this family, riddled with much excess drama: drug use, cheating, lying, custody battles, betrayals, and so on. About the only thing they’ve not done to each other is murder.
Well, just kidding on that. But they sure have many, many problems; difficulties which I, either by design, destiny, or choice, have managed to avoid in my life. So it’s hard to relate to their plights because as I see it, most of their troubles originate in their extremely poor choices. How they decide things so often seems ridiculous to me; their rationale either obscured or completely nonexistent. If only they’d follow the golden rule a bit more, their lives would be so much better, and their problems that seem so monumental, would be revealed as mere paper tigers, in my humble opinion.
01:50 PM: Watched the 2009-10-27 episode of Dr. Phil, called Sins of a Father, that focused on the aftermath of the murders, apparently committed by killer Michael Nicholaou. He’s the guy who killed two women, attempted to kill a third, and then committed suicide. Dr Phil also interviewed the lady who survived one of Nicholaou’s attacks. Not a bad show. But I wasn’t particularly impressed either. Maybe I’ve just grown too accustomed to hearing about murder so much that it’s hard to get worked up about it when it happens to strangers. I don’t know.
05:12 PM: While organizing and dusting the bedroom, I watched the 2009-10-28 episode of Dr. Phil, that illustrated the toxicity of the pursuit of spousal revenge; a pretty good episode, that focused on a couple in which the wife falsely accused the husband of physically abusing her, and then he spent ten months in jail for it. She admitted that she’d perjured herself in order to get him convicted. Still, though she came clean, eventually, her hollow admission angered me. I sensed that she bore no regret for the degree to which she messed up her husband’s life; no remorse whatsoever. Plus, in my view, nothing justifies lies or other acts of vengeance. Therefore, nothing she could say at the point would convince me that she’s not a dangerous lady that should be avoided, most likely, forever.
05:20 PM: Nap time.
06:05 PM: I’m up again. Soon, I have to leave to help Mom get to the local football game tonight. I’ll not stay for the whole thing; just long enough to wheel here to where sister Jojo and her husband are, as they will bring her home after the game.
06:50 PM: I’m back home again and working the household organization effort. Vacuuming under the bed now.
08:55 PM: Watched the Dr. Phil episodes for 2009-10-29 and 2009-10-30, which formed a two-part mini-series about a mom who decided after nineteen years of marriage to cheat on her husband. Her girls were none too happy about this, though their father epitomized understanding and devotion in spite of her going to Las Vegas with the interloper and sleeping with him. Dr. Phil, as usual, tried to get all the relevant facts out onto the discussion table, and to help this family come to grips with the woman’s infidelity, and offered suggestions on how best to heal the relationship.
09:00 PM: Starting the weekly blog system backups.
10:35 PM: Talked with [Emmy]. She’s packing, in preparations for her trip to visit me here tomorrow. It will be nice seeing her again for the holidays.
10:50 PM: Completed the weekly system backups; details here.
11:30 PM: Watched the 2009-11-01 episode of CBS’s news program, Face the Nation.
11:50 PM: Well, a full day of housecleaning and organizing has left me exceedingly tired. So, once again, it’s time for bed. Farewell, and I’ll write again here tomorrow. Take it easy now.
