Each year (this being the second), I run through my ever-growing music library, playing snippits of each song, looking for any ear catchers. When I find one that I like, I add it to a general-use playlist, which I then sync to my iPod. The iPod, I take with me almost everywhere to listen to, should I find myself bored or otherwise in need of filling free time. As a DJ, this is primarily how I learn the new stuff, while keeping the older tunes fresh in my mind.
This list I assembled throughout 2009, and had planned on listening to it while walking at the cemetery; thus, the word Walking in the title. So most of this music is light yet compelling. But I never got to the cemetery this year, as I’ve been busy with projects around the house and lacking the desire to go up there and walk for long, hot periods. Still though, this playlist is nice; it works well when I need some audio diversion while writing in the blogs, and to pass the time on long train rides to Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Practically all the songs below I find pleasing for various reasons. Some of it is great to dance to, and I’ve included both fast and slow dances as well. Some is great classic rock and country, and there are even some exceedingly funny comedy bits as well. So I would recommend these recordings to anyone who’s looking for appropriate music to play while dancing, walking, doing other aerobic exercise, or just sitting around and pondering the deeper meanings behind the lyrics; there are indeed some catchy and ponderous lyrics in here as well.
