Today’s Chores

  • Cat duty
  • Shower
  • Dispense Mom’s meds
  • Deploy the remaining  storage baskets purchased on the   2009-12-08 shopping trip,   per the   Household Organization, 2009   project.
  • Do all pending laundry in preps for   [Emmy's]   holiday visit.
  • Dust and vacuum bedroom.

11:30 AM: I’m up.  Looks like a very sunny day so far, with temps running in the low thirties.  Hopefully, the sun will melt some of that slippery ice crust that’s all over our roofs and sidewalks.  If it gets a little warmer, I can turn off the roof heaters and save some money.  :-)

04:00 PM: Started the laundry; two loads to do today.

04:30 PM: Sister Jojo’s daughter just came to help put decorative balls on the Christmas tree, and she brought their dog with her too.

05:30 PM: Worked the   New Revisions Page   project for the past five hours.  Nap time!

07:30 PM: I’m back up again.

07:50 PM: The first load of laundry is finished, folded, and put away.  The second is still soaking.  I’ll finish that later.  Now, launching the blog system backups.

08:20 PM: Niece Catie is leaving now.

08:50 PM: System backups finished.  See details   here. 

09:20 PM: Vacuumed the bedroom.

10:45 PM:  Talked with [Emmy].

01:15 AM: Worked the   New Revisions Page   project again.  The new page is complete and you can check it out   here.  You’ll also find a link to it in the sidebar on the main pages, under the   Pages   heading.  There, it is called   Recent Revisions.  Check this page for a comprehensive, up-to-the-minute listing of all the posts in this blog that have either been added or modified during the past twenty-four hours. 

01:40 AM: I’ve added similar pages to the   Tom’s Love Quest   and   Tom’s Views   blogs as well.

02:15 AM: Categorized some more posts in this, the  Tom’s Diary   blog.  There are now just 533 uncategorized posts left to do.

02:50 AM: Discovered that my Internet radio is not working.  Click   here   for details of the resolution.

03:05 AM: Okay, I’m out of juice this morning, and so, am heading to bed in my newly-cleaned bedroom.   So take care, all, and I’ll be back out here in eight to ten hours.

    Weekly Backups: 2009-12-12

    Weekly backups of all my blog sites completed. Total disk space backed up: 40.6 MB, which includes all databases, site code, and static pages. That’s an increase of 900 KB, from 39.7 MB last week.  The growth continues…

    New Revisions Page

    04:50 AM: I’ve been screwing around all night with developing a new page for the blogs, which will allow readers to retrieve a list of posts that were modified within the last 24 hours from when they make the request.  This will provide another means for quick discovery of my recent blog authoring, by readers as well as search engines.  The modifications need not appear directly on the blog’s home page to be listed on this new page.  This code will facilitate the automation of the nightly reports that are currently posted manually, by me, that give lists of changed documents for the preceding day.  Look for progress on this effort in the comments attached to this post.

    Pending Appointments And Issues

    • Sometime this month (December), we must take Mom’s 2008 property tax paperwork to a lawyer in Tipton for examination.  She may be eligible for a significant tax rebate.
    • Order another batch of Accu-Chek Aviva test strips.
    • Order more Humulin insulin.
    • Thursday, 2010-02-04 @ 11:30 AM: Appointment with orthopedist for a quarterly checkup on the progress of healing of her charcot foot.

    Log 

    11:35 AM: Blood sugar: 145.  Covered this and her breakfast with 12 units of log insulin.

    11:40 AM: Dispensed her morning meds.

    03:40 PM: Dispensed Mom’s after-lunch meds.

    04:15 PM: Blood sugar: 198.  Covered with 15 units of log insulin.

    07:55 PM: Dispensed Mom’s evening meds.

    10:55 PM: Dispensed Mom’s night-time meds.

    11:00 PM: Blood sugar: 266.  Covered with 20 units of log insulin.
