Today’s Business: 2009-12-26
Saturday, December 26th, 200909:35 AM: I’m up. A gray and damp day would seem to be on tap for this Saturday day after Christmas. Temperatures is 37 degrees currently.
02:35 PM: In the mailbox today, I received the following:
- A couple Christmas cards for Mom;
- Cassette tape version of the 2009-12 issue of Consumer Reports;
- The 2010-01 edition of Promo Only’s Mainstream Radio CD series;
- Cable and Internet bill;
- My order of forever stamps (10 books) from the US Postal Service.
There’s still plenty of time to get this latest Promo Only CD into the Tommy’s Tunes music library prior to the DJ Gig on 2009-12-31.
They automatically deduct the cable bill each month; I need to set up the rest of our bills like this. If I did, I might not need to purchase ten books of postage stamps at one time.
I should cancel my subscription to Consumer Reports; I just don’t have the time to read it these days since I’m writing so much. However, it’s a great magazine and I probably wouldn’t make any big-ticket purchases without first consulting it these days.
I think I only received one Christmas card this year (from [Ron]). But then, I shouldn’t complain, for I’ve sent out absolutely no cards myself for at least the past five years; never felt that they really brought me any closer to anyone, at least, not in any lasting sort of way. Plus, I never liked getting nothing back after sending someone a card. Besides, decent, non-generic-looking cards are quite expensive these days while long-distance telephone rates are quite cheap. So now, I just wish Merry Christmas over the telephone to the few folks I’m closest to.
03:05 PM: I showed [Emmy] how to load staples into this new Swingline stapler I got her for Christmas, along with a pack of three boxes of 5000 staples each. So, this load should last her twenty years or more. She gave away the last stapler she owned, claiming not to like it, and thinking that she didn’t use it enough to justify keeping it around. But once it was gone, she soon learned just how useful a stapler really can be. So hopefully, this lesson will prevent her from putting this one downstairs on the give-away table. Good thing too, because I’ll throttle her if she gives this office-grade unit away.
04:00 PM: We considered going to neighbor Brenda’s annual day-after-Christmas party. as we did last year, because our family has a standing invitation, and my sisters and their families often attend. So, hanging out with them would have been nice. But we decided to stay home and avoid all those extra calories; particularly since [Emmy]‘s not feeling well today.
06:50 PM: Watched the 2009-12-23, 2009-12-24, and 2009-12-25 episodes of The Young and the Restless on the DVR.
11:15 PM: Took the weekly system backups. Details here.
11:20 PM: Posted the daily list of added or revised posts today in this, the Tom’s Diary blog, here.
12:15 AM: Closing time once again. But I’ll be here later on with more intensely exciting stuff.
Take care, and good night.
