Mom’s Status: 2010-01-01

09:15 AM: Blood sugar: 158.  Covered this and her breakfast with 14 units of log insulin.

09:20 AM: Dispensed Mom’s morning meds, including 30 units of N insulin.

01:15 PM: Dispensed Mom’s lunch-time meds.

03:00 PM: Covered Mom’s lunch with 22 units of log insulin.

05:25 PM: Dispensed Mom’s evening meds.

05:30 PM: Blood sugar: 168.  Covered with 10 units of log insulin.

10:00 PM: Dispensed Mom’s night-time meds.

10:02 PM: Also, for the past couple of days, I’ve been giving Mom an increased dose of N insulin (30 units, twice per day), and she’s handling this okay and the readings have improved as well.  However, they’re still over all, higher than is healthy. So I’m increasing the twice-daily doses again from 30 to 35 units.  This is still lower than what many diabetics take (some inject over 100 units of N per day).  Indeed, the pharmacist was surprised when we last got the N insulin prescription filled, that we got so little of it.  So, we’ll try this for a week or so and see how it goes.

10:05 PM: Blood sugar: 150.  Covered with 6 units of log insulin.
