02:05 PM: Extensively revised several pieces on the   Tom’s Love Quest   blog.

03:45 PM: Worked the   Christmas Lighting, 2009   project.  Took down more lights today, now that the weather’s warming up a little; gray but temperatures rose to the low to mid-thirties this afternoon.

03:55 PM: Received mail today includes the following:

  • The 2010-01 edition of   The Writer  magazine.
  • A reminder from Mom’s bank about Medicare’s open-enrollment period, from January 1st, 2010 through March 31st, 2010 and that she might still be able to make changes to her medical coverage if she wants to.  However, she does not this year.
  • A letter from my dental insurance company, saying that the could not deduct my monthly premium.  However, I’m going to let this policy lapse because it’s quite expensive for all the more coverage I’m getting.
  • A whole-life insurance offer from Mom’s bank.
  • A balance-transfer / loan offer from a credit card company.
  • An offer to sign up for Pacenet insurance coverage for prescription drugs, which looks like a good deal on the surface.  In fact, it’s free!

05:30 PM: Watched the following television from the DVR:

  • Today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless.
  • Today’s episode of   Dr. Phil,   that covered a definition of what today’s modern family is; excellent episode!

05:50 PM: Debbie just arrived.  So we’re getting ready to head out on our Wednesday night   shopping trip.

07:00 PM:  We’re back.  Debbie is downstairs enjoying some girl talk with Mom, and I’m banished to the upstairs for the evening, so they can have privacy.  :-)

07:30 PM: Nap time.  Must be the Cheerios, blueberries, raisins, and milk I ate for supper.  :-)

09:20 PM: I’m back up again.  Calling  [Emmy] to listen to some of of the hockey game with her.

11:55 PM: Posted the list of added and / or revised posts today for this blog,   here.

    Weight Loss: 2010-01-13

    Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

I’ve lost another pound and a half since yesterday, putting my current weight at 178.5 pounds.  So far this month, I’ve dropped 5 pounds, and thus, still on schedule for losing a total of 10 pounds in January.  I weigh 9 pounds less this year than on the same day in 2009.

I can already feel the difference in my clothing; my shoes and pants fit more loosely, and my sweatshirts have once again acquired that slightly robust, too-big fit, that I so love.

My clothes fit better, and as noted the other day,   I sleep more soundly   as well.  Not only that, but when consuming fewer calories, over time, I need  less  sleep.  I get less tired in the afternoon; so wind up taking fewer naps. So I’m more productive during the day, and at night I get to sleep faster and wake up the next morning sooner, and with less effort than when I’m stuffing my face too much.

With food thus, it appears that less can indeed be more.
