  • Wash and dry all pending (Mom’s) laundry (two loads).  DONE.
  • Fill out and Return all requested forms to the financial planner.

08:15 AM: I’m up.  My weight fell a half-pound this morning to 178.0 pounds; down from 178.5 pounds yesterday.  Nice!  However, I only have 15 days left to lose five more pounds.  So I should get down to 177.0 in the next day or two.  Therefore, it’s going to be another 800 calorie day today.

08:30 AM: Looks like a gray and dreary day is on tap for us.  It’s been raining a while now; everything is pretty soaked.  So, no more Christmas light removal today.  The   Christmas Lighting, 2009   project will have to wait for a more pleasant time.  :-)    I like to make sure that the lights are bone-dry before putting them into storage.

09:30 AM: Put a 2-pound pork roast with potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions in the crock pot.  It will be ready at around 5:00 PM. Already, I can’t wait ’til it’s ready.  :-)

12:25 PM: Dusted around the office and attempted to better organize my teas, Mom’s meds, and old hard drives.   Nice though, that I can talk to [Emmy] while working.  We did that, and I could hear her SleepMates in the background.  Their sound soothes and creates an air of safety for some reason.  Maybe they sound like home, or something.  I don’t know.

03:15 PM: The roast smells REALLY good, and as I’ve not yet eaten today, I’m having lots of trouble keeping away from the crock pot ’til it’s done.  It should cook for two hours more, as it yet appears a little pink.  I just added the accompanying seasoning packet, which makes it a bit salty, though the spices indeed spice up the aroma.  Plus, they make the meat worth dying for.  Well, not really, but you know what I mean.  :-)

05:30 PM: The pork roast was delicious!  :-)    I have about half of it left for supper tomorrow.  Now, it’s nap time.

06:30 PM: I’m back up again.  Ran two loads of laundry through the wash for Mom.  Yep.  She makes a lot of laundry.  :-)

07:10 PM: Posted the   Today’s Diet: 2010-01-17   piece.

09:45 PM: Watched the 2009-11-01, 2009-11-15, 2009-11-29, 2009-12-06, and 2009-12-13 episodes of CBS’s   60 Minutes   news magazine show from the DVR.

11:30 PM: Talked with  [Emmy].  Her neighbors were a bit noisy today, but she thinks that the SleepMates helped keep her calmer when reacting to the noise.

11:50 PM: Posted the list of added / revised documents    here,    for this, the  Tom’s Diary   blog.

11:55 PM: Okay, it’s time for bed.  So take it easy, take it hard, or take it any way you can get it.  But whatever you do, have fun, ’cause I’m heading for dreamland for the next eight or so hours, and even if I have no dreams, I’ll still have lots of fun, just sleeping.  Good night.

    Today’s Diet: 2010-01-17

    Sunday, January 17th, 2010

I thought I’d start keeping track of what I’m eating daily in posts so titled  Today’s Diet, to give readers more details on the sorts of food I’m eating while I’m losing the weight this year, per the    Weight Loss: 2010   project.  In this food diary, I’ll list what I ate, how much, when, and its calorie count.

Today, to stay on schedule with my weight loss (trying to lose ten pounds this month and am almost half-way there), I’ve limited myself to 800 calories.  Here’s what I ate:

    • Green tea & Irish breakfast tea throughout the day, sweetened with stevia.  No calories.
    • Diet caffeine-free Pepsi throughout the day.  No calories.
    • 05:00 PM: Approximately two thirds of a small pork roast, potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions.  600 calories.
    • 05:15 PM: Multivitamin.  No calories.  Always good to take these at any time, especially when dieting.
    • 06:30 PM: 8 Oz. orange juice.  110 calories.
    • 09:40 PM: 8 Oz. skim milk.  80 calories.
    • 11:15 PM: 8 Oz. French vanilla, fat-free yogurt.   170 calories.

    Total calories: 960.

09:40 AM: Dispensed Mom’s morning meds.

09:45 AM: Blood sugar: 236.  Covered this with 18 units of log insulin.

    01:50 PM: Dispensed Mom’s lunch-time meds.

02:00 PM: No blood sugar value at present; she ate lunch before reading it.  Thus, a reading would be pointless right now.   However, to her credit, she did cover her lunch with 12 units of log insulin.  Hopefully that’s enough.  We’ll find out in four hours.

06:00 PM: Dispensed Mom’s evening meds.

06:30 PM: Blood sugar: 83.  That’s on the low side of great, but still, GREAT!  Apparently at 2:00 PM, she go tthe dosage of log insulin pretty close to correct.

06:45 PM; She ate supper and covered that with 12 units of log insulin.

    11:00 PM: Dispensed Mom’s night-time meds.

11:05 PM: Blood sugar: 139.  Covered with 8 units of log insulin.
