Log

10:30 AM: I’m up. My weight held steady.  It’s still as it was yesterday: 174.5 Lbs.    See   here   for a summary of the progress on this goal so far in 2010.

11:00 AM: Read more of    The Adventures of Tom Sawyer   book throughout the night.

11:05 AM: Put a pork roast in the crock pot with vegetables.  Should be done at around 8:30 this evening.  Can’t wait.

11:20 AM: Posted the   IRIS WebRadio Users Manual   piece.

01:55 PM: Worked the   Gutter Maintenance: 2010   project; minor gutter repairs on the east side of the house today.

03:00 PM: Warmest day so far this year today; 70.5 degrees in the shade.  The sun is shining and spring definitely came in, true to form yesterday; the air smells of moist dirt and live things awakening for the first time since last October.  Yep, it’s another pavilion day too.

05:15 PM: Read more of the    Adventures of Tom Sawyer   book at the pavilion, and while napping.  Don’t worry though. I re-read the sections in which I drifted off the first time through.

05:20 PM: Began transcribing audio journal episode:  AJE-2010-02-05-15-52.

07:00 PM: Posted the   New 64 GB iPod Touch, Part One   piece.

07:45 PM: Read some of the   Best African American Essays: 2009    book.

09:00 PM: Read more of the    Adventures of Tom Sawyer   book, this time, in my bedroom.

10:00 PM: Talked with [Emmy].  She sounded somewhat choppy again tonight.  This began when she switched her phone service to Comcast.  If this is a regular occurrence, we’ll call them for a resolution.   Funny though.  The erratic sound only happens from her to me; she says that I sound okay at her end.  And, when I call other numbers in the Pittsburgh area, I don’t get this effect.

11:20 PM: Re categorized all the Diary Revisions posts.  All those that were in the   Status   and   Web Site Status   categories have been removed from those and added to the   Revisions   category.  Lists of revised posts don’t go well in the status categories; thus, the reason I moved them.

12:20 AM: Read more of the    Adventures of Tom Sawyer   book.

12:30 AM: Okay, I’m heading to bed.  Good night, take care, and I’ll see you later on back here.

Tom

    IRIS WebRadio Firmware Upgrades

    Sunday, March 21st, 2010

I enquired this morning about whether user-applied firmware upgrades for the IRIS WiFi WebRadio are available, or will be available.  Given all the problems I encountered getting this radio to work with WiFi (and still have them in fact), I’m seeking a software release that addresses these issues.

I submitted my question to the   Solutions Radio Contact-Us Page.

They responded, saying that they’ve prepared a new version of the radio’s firmware, which they hope will address some of the stability problems I’ve experienced with the IRIS WebRadio.  I then asked how I obtain this new software, and they replied that the radio will automatically download and install it the next time the radio is turned on.

I’ll ask [Emmy] if she observes any different (or better) behavior on the IRIS WiFi Internet WebRadio when she next uses it to listen to a Penguins hockey game.

    IRIS WebRadio Users Manual

    Sunday, March 21st, 2010

This morning, I received email from a fellow who also purchased the IRIS WebRadio from Solutions Radio RV.  He received no users manual or user Id and password with it either (for logging into the radio’s programming web site). So, I advised him as follows:

If they assign your user Id / password the way they did mine, then your user id is the serial number of the radio, and the password is your first name, all in lower case.

I eventually contacted W Haan Solutions Radio BV [mail:whaan@solutionsradio.com], although lately, I’ve received bounced email from this address. Your best bet is to go to the http://www.iriswebradio.com/Contact_Us.html  page and fill out the form with your questions.

Yes, they may ask you for your serial number. So keep that handy for when they respond.

    Good luck.
