Log
07:45 AM: I’m up. Good morning!
07:47 AM: Read more of the Grapes Of Wrath book overnight
07:50 AM: My weight did not change from yesterday. It’s still 173.5 Lbs. See here for a summary of the progress on this goal so far in 2010.
09:00 AM: Configured my checking account information into Google’s AddSense, so I can now accept electronic payments from them.
09:30 AM: Watched all remaining playable episodes of NBC’s Nightly News.
11:05 AM: Watched all remaining playable episodes of 60 Minutes. Some started late due to basketball, and so could not be viewed in their entirety. Others would freeze the DVR.
12:25 PM: Called about replacing the DVR. The agent ran through the usual tests and concluded that this DVR is in fact defective. Curious thing though: She had me unplug the device from power while she sent a RESET signal to it (her words). Strange. Shouldn’t the DVR be powered up so it can receive and process this signal? I asked her about this. But she insisted that this was the correct procedure. Well, I had my doubts but complied nonetheless. After all, they know best. But as you may have guessed, the RESET did not fix the problem. Maybe instead of sending a signal to the DVR, what she was actually doing was resetting the computer equipment in their office. Had she explained it this way, that would have made perfect sense. But whatever. Sometimes, I suppose I take people too literally. At any rate, I’ll exchange the DVR tomorrow when we go shopping. In the meantime, I’ll watch all my shows live.
01:30 PM: Watched today’s episode of The Young and the Restless.
04:00 PM: Watched today’s episode of Dr. Phil. Dealt more with the bullying issue in schools. This time, the victim of bullying fought back, perhaps too excessively, and seriously injured his attacker (to the tune of $40,000 in medical and dental bills). Then, he was expelled from school and held in juvenile retention for 120 days. Representatives of the school faced off with the boy’s mother and siblings. Did the victim retaliate too much? Was he in fact bullied at all? Of course, the mother of the injured boy said that he did nothing to provoke the assault. But then, the bullying victim was highly liked in the community and people knew him as very gentle and respectful. So it’s hard to fathom that a boy like this would, unprovoked, go off and pound the lights out of another. Hard to say who is right here. But I bet that bully will think twice about bothering others anymore.
07:00 PM: Watched this evening’s episode of NBC’s Nightly News. I already miss the DVR. Now, [Emmy] and I are listening to the Penguins hockey game.
10:30 PM: Worked to fix SEO issues in title tags for posts from January, 2010 in this blog throughout the day. For an approximate list of all the posts changed, click here.
11:05 PM: The Penguins are in the second period of overtime. The game is tied, 3 to 3.
11:45 PM: The Pens just lost, 4 to 3.
11:46 PM: More tomorrow. Good night.
