Today’s Activities

  • Shower.  DONE.
  • Cat duty.   DONE.
  • Pay all (7) pending bills.  DONE.

Log

08:15 AM: I’m up.

08:20 AM: Read more of the      book overnight.

08:55 AM: Called [Emmy].  She’s feeling somewhat better but is frustrated reading that  Blinded By The Right   blok; she encountered problems with the second cassette.  So she’ll likely return it to the library and not finish it.

09:30 AM: Browsed around on Facebook.  Friend count is now 145.  Now, to pay bills and tidy up the office.

01:00 PM: Mom got fitted for her new shoes today.  Her foot’s healed enough that she won’t have to wear that big, clunky special boot anymore.

02:45 PM: Went  shopping at Sheetz   for lunch.

03:10 PM: Watched today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless   on the DVR.

03:35 PM: Recorded audio journal episode:  AJE-2010-05-10-15-18.

07:00 PM: Watched today’s episode of   Dr. Phil   and    NBC’s Nightly News.  Now, I’m listening to the Penguins hockey game with  [Emmy].

07:45 PM: Disabled post revisions on all my blogs, again.  They were re-enabled when I refreshed the blog software this past weekend.  Details   here.

10:00 PM: The Pens lost tonight, 3 to 2.  One more chance to win this series they’ll have on Wednesday evening.

12:10 AM: Read chapter four (and stayed awake for the entire piece this time) of the      book.  I’ll type in my notes tomorrow.

12:15 AM: Okay, as the lights here grow more offensively bright by the minute, I guess it’s time for bed; to rest my eyes.  So sleep well, be happy, and I’ll catch you back here again tomorrow.  Good night.

Disabling Post Revisions: WordPress 2.9.2

Monday, May 10th, 2010

I discovered that WordPress was again saving every revision of every post, though I had disabled this feature back in March.  Click   here   for more details.  But apparently, in the upgrade to 2.9.2, the automatic retention of these revisions became enabled once more. So I turned off this feature by adding the following lines of code to the wp-config.php file at lines 27 and 28 for each of my blogs:

// Disable post revisions.
define(’WP_POST_REVISIONS’, false);

 I also changed line 618 in the wp-settings.php file from

$default_constants = array( ‘WP_POST_REVISIONS’ => true );

to

$default_constants = array( ‘WP_POST_REVISIONS’ => false );

Also note that the line number has not changed from what it was in WordPress 2.9.1.

Then I deleted all the revisions that had been saved to this point from each blog database by executing the following SQL statement:

DELETE FROM wp_posts WHERE post_type = “revision”;

I then logged out and back into each site’s admin id and verified that the revisions saved thus far no longer appear on the Edit Post screen. The deletion apparently worked.   These instructions have been verified to work with WordPress 2.9.2.

That’s all.

01:20 PM: That’s the only chili’s there is in Altoona. Right? I’ve been there. It’s fattening, and it’s great too. But I guess when it comes to food, FATTENING and GREAT usually go together.

08:26 PM: You can hide the games messages, can’t you? Not sure. I’m new at this.

08:27 PM: Well, next time you get those game posts, just click the HIDE link to the right and press the button for the game in the resulting dialog box that you wish to hide. Then you won’t see them anymore from that person.

08:30 PM: It’s been quite a while, Brenda. What, thirty-five years?

08:46 PM: You watchin’ the Pens game, [Morra]? [Emmy] and I are listening to it right now. Montreal just scored; 3 to 2 now, them.

10:37 PM: Reading this book now called Happiness Now; Timeless Wisdom for Feeling Good Fast, by Robert Holden. Those with a religious bent might find this a bit humanistic. But I, with my agnostic persuasion, think it refreshing and encouraging. Though I’ve fallen asleep several times in chapter four, this is NOT due to any lousy prose. I just never find the time to read until I’m worn out at day’s end. It’s actually quite informative and fresh, and reminds me Buddhist philosophy. Check it out if you feel that you’re not as happy in your life as you ought to be.   More details  here.
