10:00 AM: I’m up. Gray again today, and damp.  This may just be left over from all the rain over this past weekend.  I hope!

02:00 PM: Began the    QuickBooks Co Restore Issue: 2010-05-24   project for a local computer customer.  She drove me to her house to diagnose the trouble.  However, I was unable to resolve it there.  So we brought her computer here, where I can play with it throughout the rest of today, to more thoroughly investigate a solution.

03:50 PM: Watched today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless   on the DVR.  Ryder turned himself in for kidnapping Jenna and Lauren.  Upon seeing him, Lauren had a melt down, though Jenna understood his reasons for not helping them to escape sooner.

10:20 PM: Watched tonight’s episode of   NBC’s Nightly News   on the DVR.

10:30 PM:   Worked the   QuickBooks Co Restore Issue: 2010-05-24   throughout today.  Read that post for details.

12:00 AM: Watched tonight’s episode of   CNN’s AC 360   news show.

12:05 AM: Bed time.  So good night, take care, and I’ll see you here again tomorrow.

QuickBooks Co Restore Issue: 2010-05-24

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Worked on a customer’s laptop computer.  Her problem:  While restoring a QuickBooks 2010 company file, and overwriting the existing one on the computer with the newer one in the backup, she gets an error message saying that the file can’t be overwritten because it’s read-only attribute is set.  She says that though she frequently restores backups like this, she only yesterday began experiencing this issue.

The solution we hope to discover, would be to change her computer’s configuration (whether that be in Windows 7 or in QuickBooks 2010 itself), to once-again allow these over-writes.  Check the comments below for progress on this issue.
