Facebook Tid Bits: 2010-05-28

09:45 PM: She must be very young.  I say that because it’s always taken me aback on these dating web sites how so many young people (say, early twenties) demand such vivid and highly refined, detailed characteristics in a soul mate. I’ve often wondered how they could be so certain of what really trips their trigger?  How could they really know at that UN ripe age what they really want anyhow?  That took me thirty years of dating to figure out.  True.  Maybe I’m a little slow.  But it’s more plausible that this is but one of many symptoms of this “generation of entitlement.”  Or, again, these youngsters may simply just know not, what they know not.  :-)     I love that phrase.

09:55 PM: Stephen King recommended avoiding adverbs in his  On Writing   book he published some years back; opting for more descriptive verbs instead of verbs modified by adverbs.  For instance, instead of writing “He talked loudly,” you could say instead, “He shouted.”

09:59 PM: Well, if you get desperate enough, you can always drive to Wal Mart and buy one of those universal remotes.  As cheap as they are, you could buy two or three; just in case you lose the first universal in the future.  :-)

10:05 PM: Ah, yeah. Well, the bright side is that, with her writing ability so low, you could easily impress her with your vastly superior language skills, should you decide that you wish to do so.  But I don’t see it.  :-)

10:19 PM: Hmmm.  Perhaps you know too many lemons and not enough of those sweet oranges.  :-)   Some, rightly, come with a lifetime warranty, and would NEVER be recalled.

10:39 PM: Foot prints on the moon? Heck, we have tread marks on Mars. :-)

03:20 AM: Grocery shopped this morning, resolved a cable TV outage at a customer’s house this afternoon, learned a wealth of information from the cable guy, wrote 2000 words, configured and tested a new WiFi access point, and followed the gulf oil spill on the news for a while. Oh, and of course, there was The Young and the Restless. :-) Can’t forget that.
