Log

09:20 AM: I’m up.

10:55 AM: Took the weekly backups (details   here), monthly bandwidth report (details   here) and the site statistics (details   here).

01:00 PM: Finished applying all 38 Windows Vista and related updates to my primary DJ computer.  Now doing the same to the backup one.

02:00 PM: [Emmy] and I got some beef sandwiches at Sheetz, and are now taking a nap.

05:20 PM: We’re up again.

07:00 PM: Just puttered around, getting ready for this evening pre-4th celebration at sister Christine’s.  Now we’re headed out the door.  Back later.

12:20 AM: We’re home again.  At the party, we mostly hung 0ut around the camp fire, cooking mountain pies and munching on cheese-flavored popcorn.  We never made it into the pool however, as the temperature fell rather dramatically once the sun went down (upper 80s to mid 70s).  A constant breeze coming down from the mountain kept us chilled but made the fire burn quite briskly, and that warmed us up again.  I did not play music at this gathering, but I will DJ at tomorrow’s bash; from about 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

12L30 AM:  Good night.  We must rest up for the big celebration tomorrow, at the same location.

Weekly Backups: 2010-07-03

Weekly backups of all my blog sites completed.

  • Databases size: 13.1 MB.  That’s down 300 KB from 13.4 MB last week.  There was a moderate amount of writing done over the past seven days. But I removed approximately seventy old post drafts that were apparently large in size; thus the net decrease in data.  Though I added lots of data, I must have deleted more than I added.  The record database size still remains 14.4 MB.
  • Total data backed up: 92.6 MB.  That’s up  1000 KB from 91.6 MB last week.  Note that this figure includes all databases, site code, static pages, and log files, and is probably higher this week due to the upgrade to WordPress 3.0 that I applied to all blogs last weekend. This brings the record amount of total data saved in a weekly backup to a new high of 92.6 MB.

Site Stats: 2010-07-03

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Line 16 is of particular interest this week because it rose from 672 distinct hosts served last week, to 936 hosts this week.  I suspect this increase is due to the AdWords campaign I launched eight days ago.  We’re nearing the end of that campaign however, so line 16 will like drop back somewhat next weekend.  But I’m hopeful that some residual traffic from the Ad blitz will remain, and that this count will not drop completely back to what it was before I ran the advertisements.  We’ll see.

Bandwidth Usage: 2010-06

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Well, we stayed above the 6 GB monthly bandwidth barrier for the second time!

Used 6132.82  MB for the May, 2010 cycle (2010-05-04 through 2010-06-03). That’s down a little from 6876.53 MB last month, by 743.71 MB; still though a solid 6 GB month.

We’re still shooting for the monthly bandwidth usage goal of 7500 MB, which I’m striving to reach within the next couple months.  With my recent Google AdWords campaign, I’m surprised that bandwidth was actually down this time.  But I’ll keep writing pieces, advertising on Google and other outlets, adding appropriate keywords to the documents, and other strategies, to push toward the next record high.  So stay tuned.   It’s going to be fun.
